About the role

Ealing Carers supports unpaid carers who are caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their support. Being a carer can be rewarding but it’s also demanding and can have a huge impact on a carer’s own physical health and emotional wellbeing. We look after the carers, providing practical information and emotional support, as well as an opportunity for them to meet other carers and share experiences.

Many unpaid carers face barriers to accessing online services, information, education, employment opportunities, and social connections. As a Digital Inclusion Outreach Volunteer, you will help individuals overcome these barriers by providing practical support, encouragement, and guidance within their local community.

Tasks

Digital Skills Support

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to help people:
• Use smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers.
• Access email and online accounts.
• Connect to Wi-Fi and the internet.
• Use video calling platforms.
• Navigate websites and online forms.
• Download and use apps.
• Access NHS and local authority services online.
• Support people to build confidence in using digital technology independently.
• Explain digital concepts using clear, accessible language.

Time Commitment

• A weekly commitment
• 2 hours a week

Travel commitment

You must be willing and able to travel across the borough of Ealing – sometimes this could be up to 1.5 hours.

Is this role right for me?

What we are looking for:

• Aged over 18.
• Able to travel to and around the borough of Ealing
• Confidence in speaking with strangers.
• Friendly, approachable manner with good verbal communication and listening skills.
• Awareness of personal and professional boundaries.
