Finance Counsel at Wayflyer in Dublin, Dublin 2, IE

About Wayflyer

Today's small businesses need a capital provider that keeps pace with their growth ambitions. Traditional financing options are slow, cumbersome and often out of reach. That's why we built Wayflyer.

Our technology allows us to assess businesses in minutes, generate financing offers that reflect their growth potential and send funds in as little as 24 hours. To date, we've deployed over $6bn to thousands of businesses worldwide, backed by Tier 1 banks like J.P. Morgan.

You'll be collaborating with ambitious colleagues from around the world. We have offices in Dublin, London, New York, Charlotte, Berlin and Sydney.

The challenge

Wayflyer moves fast and the legal infrastructure that supports how we fund ourselves and serve our merchants has to move with it. We need a finance lawyer who can hold the complexity of our debt facilities and lending products in one hand, and the needs of our commercial teams in the other. This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a wall of disclaimers. It's for someone who wants to be in the room where decisions get made.

What you'll actually do

• You'll be the primary legal voice on everything touching our external funding, implementing and maintaining debt facilities, working through intercreditor arrangements, and making sure our capital markets activity is properly supported end to end.
• You'll work alongside our business teams on our core lending and merchant cash advance products, fielding queries from across our geographies and making sure the answers are actually useful to the people asking them.
• You'll own our contractual templates and playbook, keeping them current, making them sharper, and rebuilding them when the business has grown past what they were designed for.
• When we're launching new products or enhancing existing ones, you'll be the person stress-testing the legal side before we go live. And you'll manage local counsel across jurisdictions, which means knowing when to delegate, when to push back, and when to roll up your sleeves.

What this role could turn into

• Finance lawyers at Wayflyer don't stay narrowly defined for long.
• This role has a natural path toward leading the legal function for a specific product vertical, or stepping up into a broader General Counsel track as we scale.
• There's also a real opportunity to shape how we use AI and legal tech across the team, if you're genuinely curious about that space, you'll have room to lead on it.

Who thrives here

• You're the kind of lawyer who gives advice people can actually act on.
• You translate complexity without losing the nuance that matters, and you know the difference between managing risk and just saying no.
• You don't wait to be asked, if you spot a gap in a template or a problem in a process, you fix it.
• You're comfortable with ambiguity and pace, and you've learned that the best legal work often happens outside the strict boundaries of the brief you were given.

We hire for range

• You're a qualified solicitor with around 3–4 years' PQE in banking and finance, whether from a leading firm or a comparable in-house environment.
• You have solid experience across facility documentation, security structuring, and cross-border financing.
• What matters more than where you've been, though, is how you work: commercially minded, transactionally confident, and genuinely interested in what happens when legal meets product.

Location and working policy

**📍**This role is based in our Dublin office, with a hybrid working policy.
