Job Description
About us
At Vix Technology, we're bringing people, technology and services together to make transport work better for everyone. Operating across international markets, we connect and simplify complex transport systems, giving operators the clarity, control and confidence to run better mobility and create simpler, more connected experiences for passengers.
Our goal is simple: better systems, better outcomes and transport that works as one. It's our people who make that possible.
We value those who take ownership, work well with others and aren't afraid to question the default. You'll have the opportunity to contribute your expertise, solve meaningful challenges and work alongside people who share your ambition to build great solutions and make a difference.
The Opportunity
Good engineering deserves a clear path from development to production. At Vix Technology, we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to help build that path—improving the infrastructure, automation and delivery processes behind our public transport technology.
Based in Manchester or Košice, this mid-level role is an opportunity to put your existing cloud and automation experience to work, take ownership of meaningful improvements and develop your skills alongside experienced engineers.
What you’ll get involved in
You’ll help maintain and improve the environments our engineering teams use to build, test and run software. Working closely with developers, QA and platform colleagues, you’ll make deployments more consistent, environments easier to manage and operational issues easier to understand.
A typical week might include improving a CI/CD pipeline, automating a manual configuration task, investigating a failed deployment or strengthening monitoring. You’ll follow problems through, share what you discover and look for practical ways to prevent repeat issues.
You’ll work with infrastructure as code, keeping changes version-controlled, reviewed and repeatable. You’ll also support cloud-based environments, troubleshoot Linux systems and help manage application configuration, access and secrets securely.
Reliability will be part of your everyday thinking. You’ll use logs, metrics and alerts to understand system behaviour, contribute to incident investigation and help teams put lasting improvements in place. Clear documentation and useful runbooks will help make that knowledge available to others.
You’ll own well-defined tasks and improvements, with support from senior colleagues on more complex design and operational decisions. Your ideas will be welcome, particularly when they help remove friction for the wider engineering team.
About you
You’ve already worked with cloud infrastructure and automated software delivery in a professional environment. You’re comfortable getting into the detail, asking thoughtful questions and knowing when to bring someone else into an investigation.
We’re looking for:
- Practical experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering or a related infrastructure role, including hands-on work with AWS.
- Confidence troubleshooting Linux systems, networking and application connectivity.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Git and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Scripting skills in a language such as Bash or Python, alongside an understanding of containers and tools such as Docker.
- A methodical approach to security, monitoring, documentation and collaborative problem-solving.
Experience with Kubernetes, observability tools or supporting production services would be useful. You don’t need to have used every tool in the landscape, but you should be curious about how the pieces fit together and willing to keep learning.
A role you can grow into
You’ll join a team where sharing knowledge and improving how we work are part of the job. There will be opportunities to deepen your cloud expertise, strengthen your automation skills and take on broader technical responsibility as you develop.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys making life easier for other engineers, takes pride in reliable systems and gets satisfaction from replacing a fiddly manual process with something repeatable.
If that sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
What we offer
Join Vix Technology and be part of a global team making transport work better. You’ll work with talented people to solve real-world challenges in a culture that values collaboration, ownership, fresh thinking and putting customers first.
