Junior Accounting Administrator - AP/Billing at Verve… · Calgary
Job Description
Accounting Administrator – Accounts Payable & Billing
Calgary, AB | 3-Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Employment | Fully In-Office
Looking to build your accounting career? This could be a great next step.
Have some experience with accounts payable, billing or general accounting administration and looking for an opportunity to put those skills to work?
We're working with a well-established Calgary organization that is looking to add an Accounting Administrator to its finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone in the earlier stages of their accounting career who enjoys working with numbers, has a keen eye for detail and wants to continue developing their skills in a supportive environment.
The position will begin as a 3-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent, full-time role.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be supporting the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization, with a focus on accounts payable and billing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing invoices, purchase orders and accounts payable transactions.
- Assisting with cheque and electronic payment runs.
- Reviewing and coding invoices to ensure accuracy.
- Processing employee expense reports.
- Supporting billing activities, including generating invoices and applying payments to accounts.
- Following up on outstanding accounts and assisting with collections.
- Maintaining accurate vendor and customer records.
- Assisting with reconciliations, journal entries and general accounting administration.
- Working with the finance team to keep things organized, accurate and running smoothly.
What We're Looking For
We're not looking for someone who has done it all. We're looking for someone who has a good foundation, takes pride in their work and is eager to continue learning.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Some previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing or a similar accounting support role.
- A basic understanding of accounting processes and financial transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence working with numbers, spreadsheets and accounting systems.
- A positive, approachable personality and a willingness to jump in and help.
- The ability to work independently while also being a great team player.
Experience with Blackbaud would be an asset, but is not required. Additional accounting education or coursework would also be considered an asset.
Why This Opportunity?
Sometimes the best career opportunities are the ones that give you room to grow.
Here's what makes this one worth considering:
- Build your experience: Gain exposure to multiple areas of accounting rather than being limited to one repetitive task.
- Be part of a meaningful organization: Work for an established organization whose services make a positive difference in the community.
- Keep learning: Develop your accounting skills while working alongside an experienced finance team.
- Potential for something long-term: While this opportunity begins as a 3-month contract, there is potential for it to become a permanent position.
Sound Like a Fit?
If you have some accounting experience under your belt and are looking for an opportunity to continue building your career, we'd love to hear from you.
You don't need to check every box. If you're organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with AP or billing processes and excited to learn, we encourage you to apply.
