Job Description
Summary: Vertex Education is a purpose-led education services provider dedicated to changing lives through education. The Business Operations Intern will support the Business Office with administrative, accounting, and operational tasks while gaining hands-on experience in a K–12 business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Scan and upload documents to cloud storage
- Assist with collecting and entering timecards and employee leave
- Support payroll processing tasks as assigned
- Help process purchase requisitions and order receipts
- Assist with entering invoices and preparing AP documentation
- Enter cash receipts
- Assist with financial audit preparation and year-end transition activities as needed
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Business Manager and accounting staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's program in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Ability to pass employment verification and background check
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Works well with others, including staff, vendors, and clients
- Maintains a professional and positive demeanor
- Willing to learn new software and follow written procedures
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to take direction
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills
- Adheres to business-casual dress code when on site
- Basic proficiency with business software (e.g., Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF)
- Comfortable using computers, scanners, printers, and other office equipment
- Familiarity with cloud-based tools (e.g., Office 365, online storage)
- Introductory understanding of accounting concepts and terminology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of at least one accounting or business course preferred
- Experience in an office, school business office, or accounting environment is a plus
