Job Description

The Underwriting Assistant Trainee will support underwriters and assist in the binding of insurance policies, while also collaborating with agents and brokers to ensure excellent customer service and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure the best possible outcome for all inquiries while minimizing touches and providing excellent customer service
- Evaluate applications, web search results, and business quotes via the web with guidance from coaches and leaders
- Gather information and approval where necessary to prepare binders for delivery to customers
- Apply critical thinking, problem solving and an underwriting mindset to all accounts
- Pursue growth and development opportunities through USLI University, continuing education, workshops, and classes
- Communicate ideas for procedural or workflow improvement
- Complete departmental specific reports or projects, including daily follow-ups and research on Bound Not Issued items
- Develop in-depth knowledge of all products handled within the specific Underwriting Assistant Team
- Understand inter-departmental relationships and the duties of each, including Policy Issuance, Underwriting Services, Billing, and Underwriting
- Develop and strengthen customer relationships by delivering excellent service via phone and email communication, while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Required Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent business experience required
- Strong commitment to customer service and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
- Eagerness to learn and understand our insurance product offerings
- A dedication to placing our customers at the center of everything you do
