Help Businesses Save Money While Building Your Career

Looking for a career where your attitude, work ethic, and people skills matter more than your previous experience?

Universal Energy Solutions is hiring motivated individuals to join our Baltimore team as Commercial Energy Consultants. Whether you’re just starting your career, changing industries, or looking for a fresh opportunity, this entry-level position is designed for people who enjoy working with others and want to build a successful career helping local businesses.

No previous sales experience? No problem.

As a Commercial Energy Consultant, you’ll meet with local business owners to review their electricity and natural gas supply plans, identify opportunities to reduce energy costs, and recommend competitive supplier options that best fit their business needs. We'll provide the training, coaching, and mentorship to help you succeed.

Why This Is a Great Place to Start Your Career

Many companies expect you to have experience before they’ll give you an opportunity. We believe great consultants are developed through training, coaching, and real-world experience.

During your first several weeks, you’ll focus on developing new customer relationships while learning our proven customer consultation process alongside experienced mentors. From your first day of training, we'll help build confidence, strengthen your communication skills, and teach you a proven customer consultation process that’s helped many of our team members build successful careers.

As you gain experience, you’ll have opportunities to take on larger customer portfolios, build long-term client relationships, and advance into Account Manager and other leadership positions. We’re committed to promoting from within as part of our goal to continually expand into 20+ additional markets over the next few years.

What You’ll Do

Your day begins at the office, where, as a team, we'll plan, prepare and strategize for the day ahead. You'll then head into your assigned territory and crush your goals. From there, you control the tone and outcome of your day. Responsibilities include:

• Meet face-to-face with business owners and decision-makers.
• Review current electricity and natural gas supply plans.
• Help businesses identify opportunities to reduce their energy costs.
• Recommend competitive energy supplier options based on each customer’s needs.
• Build relationships with prospective commercial customers.
• Learn our proven customer consultation process alongside experienced mentors.
• Travel throughout an assigned territory (typically within a 30-mile radius of the office).
• Build the skills needed to take on larger customer portfolios and advance your career.

Is This a Good Fit for You?

This role is perfect for people who enjoy working with others, solving problems, and helping businesses make informed decisions. Many of our top performers started in restaurants, retail, hospitality, customer service, athletics, or other customer-facing roles where they learned how to communicate, solve problems, and build relationships. If you’re competitive, coachable, self-motivated, and willing to learn, we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed.

Compensation

Base Pay + Commission

• Weekly base pay while you learn the role and build confidence
• Commission earned on new accounts
• Increased earning potential based on performance

Typical first-year on-target earnings (OTE) range from $55,000–$70,000, with the potential to earn $100,000+ for those who consistently exceed performance goals.

Paid Training & Career Development

Every new hire begins with paid training and hands-on mentorship, giving you the opportunity to learn the process, strengthen your product knowledge, and build confidence in your new skills. And the learning doesn’t stop once you’re up and running. As you advance, you’ll have access to continued development in leadership, business management, and financial skills designed to prepare you for greater responsibility and opportunity.

Our goal isn’t simply to help you succeed with your first customer—it’s to help you develop the skills to build a career and continue growing within it.
