Job Description
U. S. Steel is seeking FP&A Student Employees to join the Financial Planning & Analysis organization. This role is designed for a motivated student who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in financial planning, performance reporting, business analysis, and decision support within a corporate finance environment. The Student Employee will support meaningful assignments, analyze financial and operational data, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop the analytical, technical, and communication skills needed to support business leaders across the enterprise.

Role Overview

Responsibilities
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, explain variances, and support business decisions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and performance reporting for corporate and operational teams.
- Support preparation of dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that improve visibility into business performance.
- Participate in FP&A analyses, operational and commercial studies, and special projects driven by organizational and business needs.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and management teams through meetings, presentations, and cross-functional project work.
- Prepare clear, concise summaries and recommendations for management and business partners.
- Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to process improvement, automation, and digital reporting initiatives across the Finance organization.
- Current full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related analytical discipline.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence tools preferred.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and succinctly.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
- Interest in finance, operations, data analytics, or business performance management.
- Willingness to work in both corporate and operational environments, including manufacturing or plant settings as needed.
- Reliable transportation is needed to and from operating and office locations
- This is a hybrid position
