Summary: The D. E. Shaw Group seeks talented individuals with unique perspectives to join the firm as proprietary trading interns. Trader interns will take on complex challenges to deepen their understanding of financial markets and gain exposure to the firm’s investment strategies.

Responsibilities:
- Gain exposure to general trading activities, participate in monitoring markets and positions, and analyze market events
- Employ a number of technological platforms to analyze market data and make qualitative decisions based on your analyses

Required Qualifications:
- Candidates who approach problem solving with curiosity, think creatively, and can generate interesting and orthogonal insights (e.g., through involvement in coding or trading competitions, hackathons, investment clubs, or STEM research experience)
- Individuals with an aptitude for deep analysis who can recognize connections across a wide range of sources and synthesize information into clear and persuasive messages
- Applicants should be able to support arguments with data and quantitative analysis
- We welcome applicants from any field of study; no previous finance experience is necessary
- Students in this program are usually approaching their final year of full-time study
