Summary: The State of Tennessee is a government employer seeking a Junior Software Developer for its Department of Finance and Administration. The role develops and maintains business application software, including coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, database scripting, and collaboration with stakeholders under general supervision.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and test software applications per specifications, including writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code under supervision
- Develop stored procedures, database scripts, and interfaces, and participate in data migration, conversion planning, and backup procedures
- Troubleshoot program issues, error logs, and performance concerns, and conduct basic unit testing to support the quality assurance process
- Create and maintain project documentation, test plans, and system narratives
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, validate functionality, and participate in training and walkthroughs to present and refine software functionality
- Assist in designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages
- Participate in code reviews and accept constructive feedback for continuous improvement
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in systems analysis, application design, or software development
- Relevant IT Associate's Degree
- An Associate's degree and two years of related IT experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement
- Related IT experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years
- Ability to read and understand existing codebases
