Job Description
Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate documentation, proper handling of goods, and timely movement of materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders, packing slips, or invoices
Inspect deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly
Accurately record received goods into inventory management systems
Prepare, pack, and label outgoing shipments according to company and carrier requirements
Schedule shipments and coordinate with carriers and delivery services
Maintain organized storage areas for received goods and shipping materials
Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (if certified)
Maintain shipping and receiving logs, records, and documentation
Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred
Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or warehouse management systems
Ability to read shipping documents, purchase orders, and packing slips
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Forklift certification
Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
Knowledge of shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight companies) and shipping software
