Job Description
Summary: The Southwest Florida Water Management District is a government agency dedicated to protecting water resources and minimizing flood risks. They are seeking a Hydrogeologist to manage administrative and financial processes, collect and analyze borehole geophysical data, and oversee the construction and repair of monitor wells.
Responsibilities:
- Track and process well plugging reimbursements through the Quality of Water Improvement Program (QWIP)
- Operate borehole geophysical and video logging equipment and software
- Analyze and manage borehole geophysical data for well design and evaluation of aquifer characteristics
- Track and oversee monitor well inspections, maintenance/repair, abandonment, and replacement of District monitor wells under the Well Repair & Maintenance Program (WRMP)
- Monitor and reconcile costs against budgeted funds for QWIP and WRMP
- Research and analyze hydrogeologic data (cores, drill cuttings, geophysical logs, etc.) to design monitor wells and prepare scopes of work
- Oversee construction of monitor wells performed by external drilling contractors
- Prepare and evaluate proposals, contracts/bids, and scopes of work
- Communicate and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, web applications, mapping (GIS/ESRI), and other programs/software for automating data management, documentation, and reporting
- Perform other various project management and field duties as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Hydrology or Geology
- Valid Drivers License required for all positions
