Shift Collab Therapist (MSW RSW & RP) at Shift Collab · Toronto

Join Shift Collab

At Shift Collab, we're a clinician- and women-led, award-winning national virtual mental health therapy practice of over 125 Registered Social Workers and Registered Psychotherapists reshaping virtual mental health care across Canada.

We’re always meeting therapists who would be a great fit for our team. This is an open posting, so we’ll be collecting applications and reaching out as needed based on our current client needs. This is an independent contractor role.

What This Role Actually Looks Like

We invest heavily in growing your caseload through marketing, client matching, and a strong referral engine. What we need from you is a partner in that effort: someone who shows up consistently, runs excellent Meet & Greet sessions, builds strong therapeutic relationships, and keeps clients engaged in thoughtful treatment planning.

We do the heavy lifting on visibility and operations. You focus on delivering excellent clinical care and building a caseload that lasts.

Hours

• Typically 8 to 10 hours a week to start
• Evening and weekend availability is a strong asset
• Potential for schedule growth, based on your availability and our demand.

What We Handle, So You Don't Have To

Billing, scheduling, client intake admin, and back-office support are all covered. Our secure telehealth platform gives you one place to manage sessions and notes. Your time goes to clinical work and client relationships, not chasing paperwork.

Compensation

Our compensation model reflects clinical experience, tenure, client demand, market rates, and the full support that comes with practicing at Shift Collab. Your rate is part of a broader model that includes client referrals and matching, marketing, billing, scheduling, intake administration, technology, and ongoing practice support.

Why Therapists Stay

• Remote work. We're remote-first, so there's no commute.
• Real professional growth. Regular workshops, webinars, and clinical training, plus access to supervision and peer groups.
• Admin and marketing support. We take care of the infrastructure behind your practice and invest in bringing new clients to Shift.
• A real community. Being 100% virtual doesn't mean practicing alone. Peer supervision, team meetings, and knowledge-sharing keep you connected.
• Your own professional presence. We help build your bio and visibility, with opportunities for some therapists to write, speak, or contribute their expertise publicly.
• Support for you, too. Wellness resources, peer support, regular touchpoints, and social events help you stay connected to the community.

Who Thrives Here

Therapists who:

• Approach the therapeutic relationship with engagement over acronyms
• Deliver high-quality, accessible virtual care and understand virtual-first practice
• Excel at Meet & Greet sessions and know how to turn a first conversation into a strong therapeutic match
• Take retention and treatment planning seriously so clients feel cared for and know where their therapy is going
• See caseload growth as a shared effort and are ready to actively partner on it
• Can offer some evening availability, where client demand is highest
• Want a long-term engagement, not a short-term gig

What You Bring

• Master's in Social Work or Counselling Psychology, registered as an MSW RSW or RP
• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience
• Professional liability insurance
• Reliable internet and a secure, private workspace
• Strong virtual therapy skills and comfort with telehealth platforms
• Experience or training in any of the following is a strong asset: personality disorders, workplace injuries, narcissistic abuse recovery, complex PTSD (C-PTSD), somatic or body focused therapies, anxiety, and couples therapy
• Some evening availability, ideally between 6 and 9 PM, as our clients are asking for more evening appointments. You don’t need to work only evenings to be considered
• Fluency in additional languages beyond English is a strong asset
• A genuine commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to working with a diverse client base
• Professional references and a Vulnerable Sector Check, required for all successful candidates
