Job Description
Summary: Shield AI is a venture-backed deep-tech company focused on protecting service members and civilians with intelligent systems. The 2026 Summer Internship program offers an opportunity for Electrical Engineering students to engage in hands-on projects, mentorship, and the potential for a job offer after the internship.
Responsibilities:
- Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of multiple avionics assemblies and/or test fixtures
- Gain expertise in multiple disciplines within EE as you design systems for power electronics, communications, RF, and more
- Design test stands and test fixtures, which may include relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and various other pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Utilize Python to automate test sequences, perform analysis, or run simulations
- Contribute to and attend cross-functional design reviews. Advocate for design changes that result in simpler manufacturing processes
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- You are an undergraduate, graduate or PhD student expected to graduate in December 2026 or Spring 2027
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, including EE, Mech E, Programming, Physics, and Mathematics
- Experience working on multidisciplinary hardware development projects, which can be from an internship, job, club, team, personal project, etc
- Great written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated history of showing ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results
- Record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PCB schematic and layout tools, including Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, etc…
- Experience with Python or any scripting language
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc…
- Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful
