Legal Business Development Manager –… at Roxwell Talent · Holborn…
Job Description
An established London law firm is looking for an experienced Legal Business Development Manager for a newly created role with an unusually broad remit.
Approximately half of the role is classic law-firm BD. You'll support several smaller specialist practice areas and help them develop a more coordinated approach to business development.
The other half is focused on developing the firm's alumni network.
For the practice groups, you'll work with partners on client targeting, pitches, directories, events, thought leadership and wider BD initiatives. Importantly, you'll also bring the different groups together to exchange ideas, identify common opportunities and encourage collaboration and cross-selling across the firm.
For the alumni programme, you'll take responsibility for developing relationships and engagement, identifying priority alumni, improving data and segmentation, delivering communications and events and helping turn the network into a stronger source of introductions, relationships and opportunities.
You'll be joining an established Marketing & Business Development function, so this isn't a standalone role. You'll have colleagues across the wider team while taking ownership of your particular portfolio.
We're ideally looking for:
- around five years or more of legal or professional-services business development experience;
- law-firm BD experience in preference to general commercial business development;
- confidence working directly with partners and senior stakeholders;
- strong relationship-building and project-management skills;
- experience coordinating activity across different practices or stakeholder groups; and
- a commercial, collaborative approach.
Alumni experience is helpful, but you don't need to have done an alumni role before.
Candidates coming from a strong law-firm BD background who can see how relationships, networks and cross-practice collaboration translate into commercial opportunities are particularly relevant.
