Position: Director of Engineering

Location: Hybrid, Hod Hasharon

We're looking for a Director of Engineering to lead a group of software engineers responsible for core cloud services and platform capabilities powering a large-scale enterprise SaaS product. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering and is part of the engineering leadership team.

We're looking for a leader who combines strong technical judgment with exceptional people leadership. Someone who enjoys building teams, developing managers, and driving execution, but who also likes staying close to the technology, challenging architectural decisions, and getting involved when needed.

Who You Are

• You are a leader of leaders.
• You know how to build strong engineering organizations through capable managers, clear ownership, accountability, and trust. You create an environment where teams can move quickly while making sound technical and business decisions.
• You are technically credible.
• You may not code every day, but you remain hands-on enough to understand modern architectures, review technical approaches, challenge assumptions, and help teams navigate complex engineering tradeoffs.
• You care deeply about customer outcomes.
• You understand that engineering success is measured by customer value, product adoption, reliability, velocity, and business impact rather than simply delivering features.
• You have experience building and operating modern SaaS platforms at scale.
• You understand distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, observability, operational excellence, security, reliability, and the realities of running software in production.
• You are excited by transformation.
• You have successfully led organizations through significant change, whether modernizing platforms, introducing new engineering practices, improving development productivity, or adopting emerging technologies.
• You know how to balance strategy and execution.
• You can define a long-term vision while simultaneously ensuring that quarterly commitments are delivered with high quality and predictability.
• You communicate clearly and influence effectively.
• You build strong relationships across engineering, product management, customer-facing teams, and executive leadership.

What Success Looks Like

• Teams are engaged, accountable, and able to execute independently.
• Engineering managers are growing into stronger leaders and building high-performing teams.
• Platform modernization initiatives are successfully delivered and provide measurable improvements in scalability, maintainability, operational efficiency, and developer productivity.
• The organization successfully adopts modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted software development and improved software delivery processes.
• Product commitments are delivered predictably without sacrificing quality, reliability, or operational excellence.
• Technical debt is actively managed and architectural decisions support long-term business goals.
• Leadership has clear visibility into priorities, risks, and execution progress without requiring excessive oversight.

• Lead multiple engineering teams through engineering managers.
• Drive execution of major strategic initiatives including platform modernization and engineering transformation programs.
• Partner closely with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business priorities into engineering plans and execution.
• Improve engineering effectiveness, development velocity, software quality, and operational excellence.
• Help define and implement modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development workflows and engineering productivity improvements.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help teams make sound technical and business decisions.
• Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
• Coach engineering managers and build a strong leadership bench.
• Help establish engineering standards, processes, and best practices across the broader organization.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a significant portion in engineering management leadership roles.
• Experience leading managers and large engineering organizations in enterprise SaaS companies.
• Strong technical background in modern cloud architectures, distributed systems, and large-scale software platforms.
• Experience driving organization-wide engineering initiatives and transformational change.
• Track record of delivering complex, business-critical products and capabilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with public cloud platforms, modern development practices, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
