Apply Job Type Part-time Description JOB SUMMARY This part-time, at-will position supports consistent, reliable meal service across the agency’s nutrition operations and ensures the accurate and timely delivery of meals and supplies to Nutrition Sites while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. The Driver supports daily program operations by verifying delivery accuracy, communicating issues promptly, and ensuring the agency vehicle remains in proper working conditions. The role contributes to the efficiency and reliability of the Nutrition Program by maintaining dependable delivery routes and clear communication with supervisory staff. Through safe driving practices and attention to detail, the Driver helps ensure that essential nutrition services are delivered consistently to the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Deliver food and supplies safely and on schedule to designated Nutrition Sites, ensuring all items are placed in appropriate storage areas. Verify accuracy of deliveries and immediately report any delivery errors or discrepancies to the Director. Notify the Director promptly if a delivery may be delayed or unable to be completed so alternate arrangements can be made. Perform routine vehicle upkeep, including regular preventative maintenance, and report the need for major service to the Director. Operate agency vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and agency safety policies. Other duties as may be assigned and/or requested from time to time in fulfillment of our agency’s mission. RESPONSIBILITIES The Driver is responsible for safely delivering food and supplies (before 11:00 a.m.) to assigned Nutrition Sites and ensure all products are placed in the correct storage locations. The incumbent must promptly report any delivery errors or anticipated delays to the Director to support timely corrective action. The role includes performing routine vehicle upkeep and coordinating major service needs with the Director. Additionally, the Driver is expected to operate agency vehicles responsibly and in full compliance with all traffic laws and safety standards. REAL Services will not be responsible for any ticket the driver incurs while working. Employee will perform their duties in accordance with the Allowable and Unallowable Activities for the service provided, specifically, the Home Delivered Meals section of the most recent version of the Indiana Health Coverage Programs, Provider Reference Manual, Home and Community Based Services Waivers (“Waiver Manual”). Requirements EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma and/or GED Previous experience in delivery driving preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to follow safety protocols and handle unexpected situations calmly. Familiarity with 5-county area, route planning, navigation, and time management. DIFFICULTY OF WORK Work requires driving in varying weather and traffic conditions while meeting delivery schedules and ensuring accuracy of food and supply distribution. The position involves physical activity, including loading, unloading, and placing items in designated storage areas. Attention to detail is essential for monitoring vehicle condition, identifying delivery discrepancies, and following safety and operational procedures. The incumbent must maintain effective communication with the Director and consistently demonstrate safe driving practices. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually seated while driving but must be on their feet while loading their vehicle or delivering the food and supplies. Some physical effort is required. Regular and reoccurring travel required. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Successful candidate must submit to a pre-employment drug screening, limited criminal history check, driver check, National Sex Offender Registry check, SAM and OIG exclusion screenings. Must pass and maintain compliance with the agency’s background check policy. Proof of educational credentials is required at employment. Valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle required. Must meet the Agency’s required car insurance coverage level at time employment begins and maintain it throughout the duration of employment (Liability Coverage: $100,000/$300,000/$100,000). This position has a 90-day probationary period. Salary Description $15/hour
