Job Description
Summary: PCL Construction is an innovative, employee-owned construction company focused on building infrastructure, utilities, and communities while developing its employees. The Field Engineer Summer Intern will support field and project engineers, project managers, and superintendents across project management, field supervision, pre-construction, and estimating activities. The intern will assist with audits, drawings, project documentation, subcontractor coordination, surveying, material deliveries, meetings, and estimating.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
- Conducts safety audits and quality audits
- Reads and understand drawings and specifications
- Logs submittals, process RFI’s and prepare reports
- Assists with surveying and project layout
- Maintains and update field drawings, field equipment and records
- Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors and field staff
- Coordinates material deliveries and documentation
- Attends relevant project meetings
- Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
- Assists with project documentation requirements
- Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry such as Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Driver's License
- Willing to work and live as designated
- Willing to temporarily relocate to project locations
- Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs
- Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- A desire to pursue a career as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Estimator
Required Skills: Valid Driver’s License
