Nuclear Engineering AI Trainer at Paro in Remote in
Job Description
Nuclear Engineering – AI Trainer
Remote | Independent Contractor | $40–$125/hr USD
About the Role
We are seeking experienced nuclear engineers and technical professionals to evaluate how advanced artificial intelligence models perform real-world nuclear engineering tasks.
This opportunity allows professionals with backgrounds in nuclear engineering, reactor systems, nuclear energy, radiation protection, thermal hydraulics, or related engineering disciplines to apply their expertise to improving AI-generated technical solutions.
Projects may involve evaluating reactor physics calculations, nuclear system designs, thermal-hydraulic analyses, radiation shielding, nuclear safety assessments, engineering simulations, and technical documentation.
In this role, you will develop realistic nuclear engineering challenges based on your professional experience, evaluate AI-generated responses, identify technical errors, and provide detailed feedback to improve model accuracy and reasoning.
This is not a traditional nuclear engineering position. Instead, you will apply your technical knowledge and analytical judgment to help advance AI technology in a flexible, fully remote environment.
Benefits of the Opportunity
- Work remotely using your own computer.
- Flexible scheduling with the ability to select projects based on your availability and expertise.
- Competitive compensation ranging from $40–$125 USD per hour, depending on project requirements.
- Opportunities to work on challenging nuclear engineering and technical evaluation projects.
- Access to required AI tools without needing personal subscriptions.
- Opportunities to contribute specialized engineering expertise to emerging AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop challenging, realistic nuclear engineering tasks based on professional experience, including reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, radiation shielding, nuclear systems analysis, and engineering calculations.
- Create supporting materials such as technical specifications, engineering datasets, simulation outputs, system diagrams, calculations, and technical reports.
- Evaluate AI-generated nuclear engineering solutions for accuracy, completeness, feasibility, and adherence to engineering principles.
- Review reactor system behavior, heat transfer, fluid flow, radiation transport, and nuclear engineering calculations.
- Analyze engineering assumptions, simulation results, system performance, and technical interpretations.
- Compare responses from different AI models, identify strengths and weaknesses, and document areas for improvement.
- Develop detailed evaluation rubrics and success criteria to determine whether AI-generated solutions meet technical requirements.
- Identify technical errors involving calculations, unit conversions, modeling assumptions, system design, and nuclear safety considerations.
- Review nuclear engineering methodologies, regulatory considerations, and technical documentation using non-sensitive, publicly shareable information.
- Collaborate with other technical experts to review and refine evaluation tasks.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of applied professional experience preferred in nuclear engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in progress or completed in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Nuclear Engineering and Reactor Systems
- Reactor Physics and Neutronics
- Thermal Hydraulics and Heat Transfer
- Nuclear Power Systems and Plant Engineering
- Radiation Protection and Shielding
- Nuclear Safety and Risk Assessment
- Nuclear Materials and Fuel Systems
- Nuclear Systems Modeling and Simulation
- Related nuclear engineering disciplines
- Hands-on experience performing engineering calculations, analyzing technical data, evaluating nuclear systems, or interpreting engineering simulations.
- Familiarity with relevant engineering tools such as MATLAB, Python, ANSYS, RELAP5, MCNP, or comparable simulation and analytical software.
- Understanding of nuclear engineering principles, system performance, engineering calculations, and technical safety considerations.
- Ability to identify technical errors and clearly explain findings in writing.
- Current or recent hands-on experience performing nuclear engineering or related technical work.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, or willingness to learn.
- Comfortable using cloud-based collaboration tools, desktop applications, and common engineering file formats.
- Programming, simulation, or scientific computing experience is strongly preferred and may be required for certain projects.
- Advanced degrees, professional engineering licenses, or specialized nuclear industry certifications are a plus but not required.
Compensation and Contract Details
- Pay: $40–$125 USD per hour, depending on project and qualifications.
- Position Type: Independent contractor.
- Location: Fully remote.
- Schedule: Flexible, with a stated minimum of 10 hours per week and no weekly maximum. Some projects prioritize availability of 30–40 hours per week.
- Payment Method: PayPal, on a regular payment schedule.
- Eligible Locations: United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.
- Tools: Access to required AI platforms is provided.
Application and Assessment Process
- Apply: Submit your application and complete the required account registration.
- Skills Assessment: Complete an unpaid technical assessment lasting approximately 2–4 hours. The assessment evaluates nuclear engineering knowledge, technical reasoning, analytical judgment, and the ability to identify errors in AI-generated work. All assessment submissions must be completed independently without AI assistance.
- Assessment Review: Qualified submissions are reviewed by technical evaluators. Candidates who successfully pass will be invited to complete onboarding.
- Project Training: Complete introductory training covering task development, supporting documentation, and evaluation criteria.
- Task Development: Propose realistic nuclear engineering challenges based on professional experience and create supporting materials.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Submitted work undergoes expert review, with opportunities for feedback, revisions, and additional assignments.
Project participation and compensation are subject to applicable review and acceptance requirements. Passing the assessment does not guarantee immediate project availability.
