Business Operations & Strategy Analyst Intern at Omnidya in Seattle

The One-Sentence Pitch

You will do more real work, own more real outcomes, and sit closer to real decisions in twelve weeks here than most people do in their first two years anywhere else.

Who We Are

Omnidya sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, insurance, fleet intelligence, and computer vision — building the data and automation infrastructure that a century-old industry never had the tools to build.

We move at founder speed, and we are small enough that the work you do will ship, get used, and matter. There is no rotation program designed to keep you busy. There is no twenty-person intern cohort competing for a single project. There is a team that needs sharp people and is willing to hand real problems to anyone who can solve them.

Our operating culture borrows the parts of Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and the startup world that actually produce results, and discards the parts that don't:

Meritocracy over hierarchy. The best idea wins, regardless of who it came from.

Ownership over assignment. You will own outcomes, not tasks.

Speed over process. We'd rather ship, learn, and correct than deliberate for a month.

High trust, high standards. We give you room and expect you to fill it.

Extreme accountability. When something is yours, it's yours.

We are not the right fit for someone who wants a comfortable, well-defined, low-stakes. We are exactly the right fit for someone who wants to find out how good they actually are.

What You'll Actually Do

This is not a shadowing internship. From week one, you will be embedded with leadership and cross-functional teams, owning work that the company depends on.

Business Operations

• Build and maintain the operational reporting and executive dashboards leadership uses to run the company
• Track the KPIs that matter and surface the ones that should
• Identify broken or slow processes and redesign them
• Drive internal projects end-to-end, from scoping to delivery
• Create the documentation and operating procedures the company is missing

AI-Powered Analysis

• Build AI-driven workflows using Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and whatever ships next month
• Automate reporting and analysis that currently eats hours of human time
• Distill complex, messy information into clear, executive-ready output
• Become the person who knows how to make these tools do real work, not party tricks

Financial & Strategic Analysis

• Size markets and pressure-test revenue opportunities
• Benchmark competitors and map the landscape
• Model unit economics and analyze our business model
• Support financial modeling for strategic decisions

Market Intelligence

• Run industry, competitor, and technology research that directly informs strategy
• Track emerging technologies and what they mean for us
• Research potential investors, partners, and acquisition targets

Special Projects

Take on high-priority, ambiguous, executive-sponsored initiatives with real deadlines and real consequences — the assignments that don't fit neatly into any one team and need someone sharp to just figure it out

Who You Are

We care about horsepower, hustle, and judgment far more than your résumé.

You are:

• Relentlessly ambitious and a little impatient with the status quo
• A self-starter who doesn't wait to be told what to do
• Genuinely curious — you go three levels deeper than asked
• Organized and calm under pressure, juggling priorities without dropping them
• A clear, sharp writer who can make complex things simple
• Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to act before everything is certain
• The kind of person who takes ownership without being asked twice

Preferred background — students pursuing Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics. A strong GPA helps, but it's not a gate. We've hired brilliant people with mediocre transcripts and passed on perfect ones who couldn't execute.

Must-have skills

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets
• PowerPoint and presentation development
• Strong writing
• Research and data interpretation
• Real fluency with AI tools
• The ability to learn anything fast

Nice-to-have skills

• SQL, Python
• Tableau, Power BI
• Notion, Airtable
• Financial modeling
• Prior startup, consulting, or investment research experience

If you have some of the must-haves and the raw ability to pick up the rest in a weekend, apply anyway.

What Success Looks Like

We don't measure interns by hours logged or tasks completed. By the end of the internship, a successful analyst will have:

• Shipped something that's still in use after you leave — a dashboard, a model, an automated workflow, a process that outlives the internship
• Owned at least one project end-to-end that a leader was counting on, and delivered it
• Built AI workflows that measurably saved the team time or unlocked analysis we couldn't do before
• Earned the trust to be handed progressively harder, more ambiguous problems as the internship goes on
• Become someone we fight to bring back — the clearest signal of a great internship is a return offer

If you do this well, you won't leave with a line on your résumé. You'll leave with proof of what you can do, references who will go to bat for you, and a standing offer to come back.

Why Join Us

• Proximity to power. You will work directly with founders and executives, not three layers removed from them.
• Real stakes. Your work ships and gets used. No make-work, no busy projects invented to fill an internship.
• AI-first from the ground up. You'll build the kind of AI-native operating muscle that most professionals are scrambling to develop a decade into their careers.
• Compressed growth. The learning curve here is steep on purpose. You will be uncomfortable, and you will be better for it.
• A launchpad. Our alumni go on to found companies, join top venture firms, land at elite consultancies, and take operating roles at the best startups. This internship is designed to accelerate whatever comes next for you.

Compensation & Perks

• Direct mentorship from founders and senior leadership
• Return offer potential for standout performers
• Real ownership of meaningful, high-visibility projects
• Frontier AI tooling and the mandate to use it
• A reference network of people who have seen your work firsthand and will vouch for it

How to Apply

Send us your résumé and one short paragraph — no cover letter theater — answering a single question: What's something you built, fixed, or figured out that you're proud of, and why?

We read every one. We respond to the ones that make us curious.
