Job Description
Summary: The Louisiana Department of Education works to ensure students are prepared for college, careers, or successful lives through education policy, funding, oversight, research, and training. The Education Research Analyst will support statewide accountability programs by generating accurate assessment results, preparing performance metrics and analyses, conducting statistical evaluations, advising on reporting issues, and responding to data requests.
Responsibilities:
- Generate results for assessment and accountability releases, ensuring all data is accurate, meaningful, and strictly aligned with state and federal accountability requirements
- Prepare district and school performance indicators, accountability metrics, and summary analyses for public, legislative, and federal audiences
- Conduct statistical analyses and predictive simulations to evaluate proposed assessment and accountability policies
- Advise the supervisor on critical reporting issues, operational risks, and emerging trends in assessment and accountability
- Respond efficiently to internal and external data requests, including inquiries from legislative bodies, state boards (BESE), and federal agencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership to support agency goals
Required Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with practical experience querying and manipulating large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, or Python
- They must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality and accuracy
- A master's degree in education, statistics, mathematics, or in a data analytics, data management, information technology, or social sciences field
