Job Description
Summary: The New York State Department of Labor provides services and support to New York’s workers, businesses, and job seekers. The Labor Standards Intern will assist field unit investigators with office-based investigative and administrative tasks, including research, correspondence, data entry, records processing, mail, and SharePoint updates.
Responsibilities:
- Processing checks
- CLEAR searches
- Internet research
- Writing investigative letters
- Assisting intake in data entry
- Acanning
- FOIL requests
- Processing mail
- Sharepoint updates
Required Qualifications:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*
- Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
- Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Criminal Justice/Homeland Security
- Preferred minimum education level: Junior
- Preferred maximum education level: Senior
