Creating safe, welcoming and exceptional store experiences

At M&S, security is about far more than protecting stores and assets. It is about creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues every day.

As an M&S Security Officer, you will become part of the wider store team, helping deliver the professionalism, reassurance and customer experience expected from one of the UK's most trusted retail brands.

We are looking for confident, professional and people-focused individuals who enjoy helping others, remain calm under pressure and can create positive moments through everyday interactions. Whether supporting customers, assisting colleagues or responding to incidents, you will play an important role in shaping how people experience our stores.

The role

This is a customer-facing role within a premium retail environment where safety, professionalism and service must work together seamlessly.

You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment while also contributing positively to the customer journey and wider store experience.

This includes:

• Supporting customers and colleagues professionally and confidently
• Responding appropriately to incidents, theft and security concerns
• Helping de-escalate challenging situations calmly and respectfully
• Working collaboratively with store teams as part of the wider M&S environment
• Delivering high standards of professionalism, communication and customer service at all times

The type of person we are looking for

• A calm and positive approach under pressure
• A genuine desire to help customers and colleagues
• Pride in delivering high standards every day

The M&S Gold Standard and Magic Moments

At M&S, we believe the moments that matter most are often the smallest. A warm greeting, a calm response during a difficult situation, or proactively helping a customer can completely shape how someone experiences the store.

We call these Magic Moments

You will receive industry-leading training designed specifically for the M&S environment, helping you develop the confidence, communication skills and professionalism needed to deliver these moments consistently.

What you'll receive

• Competitive pay, with guaranteed 40+ hours per week
• 20% colleague discount, plus complimentary beverages and snacks during your shift
• Full training and ongoing development, including company-funded SIA licence renewal
• Access to industry-leading customer service and retail security programmes
• Career progression opportunities across Mitie and the wider retail security operation
• Employee recognition and reward schemes that celebrate great performance
• A wide range of Mitie benefits, discounts and wellbeing support, including the Share Incentive Plan, Save As You Earn Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, Life Assurance and Childcare Voucher Scheme
• The opportunity to work as part of one of the UK's most recognisable retail brands

More than a security role

This role is about more than security alone. It is about helping customers feel safe, supported and welcomed, while protecting colleagues, stores and the wider M&S environment.

If you are professional, people-focused and want to be part of a team delivering a modern, customer-centric approach to retail security, we would love to hear from you.
