McDonell Area Catholic Schools
Information Technology Professional at McDonell Area… · Chippewa…
Job Description
Lead technology for a school system that knows your name
Are you the person everyone calls when something breaks? The one who fixes it, then quietly makes sure it doesn't break again? We'd like to meet you.
McDonell Area Catholic Schools (MACS) is hiring an IT professional to own technology across our PreK-12 system in Chippewa Falls. You'll support about 190 staff and hundreds of students on Windows, Apple, Chromebook, and iOS devices. You'll also have a real say in where our technology goes next.
We've written this role to fit a range of experience on purpose. If you're a hands-on technician who loves solving problems in person, there's a place for you here. If you've led IT for an organization and want to set strategy, manage infrastructure, and build something that lasts, there's a place for you too. Tell us what you bring. We'll shape the title and scope around you.
About MACS
MACS is a Catholic school system serving families from early childhood through high school. Our schools are St. Charles Early Childhood Center, St. Charles Borromeo Primary School, Holy Ghost Elementary School, Notre Dame Middle School, and McDonell Central Catholic High School. We're small enough that your work gets noticed and big enough that it matters. Our faith shapes how we teach, how we treat each other, and how we serve families. You don't have to be Catholic to work here, but you do need to respect and support that mission.
What you'll do
You'll join our on-site IT team and work alongside a regional managed services partner. Day to day, you'll keep classrooms and offices running.
Every day
- Answer help desk tickets and walk the buildings to fix hardware, software, and network issues in person
- Image, deploy, and retire devices across Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and iOS
- Manage accounts and devices in Google Admin Console and Jamf Pro
- Keep classroom tech working: projectors, interactive displays, AV, and printers
- Track inventory, licensing, and repair history so nothing falls through the cracks
- Show teachers and staff how to get more out of their tools, patiently and without jargon
As your experience allows
- Own the network, firewalls, web filtering, backups, and security across all campuses
- Protect student and staff data and keep us compliant with FERPA, CIPA, and E-Rate requirements
- Build a technology plan, a refresh cycle, and a budget that leadership can count on
- Write the documentation, procedures, and disaster recovery plans that keep us running when you're on vacation
- Choose and manage vendors, and recommend tools that support how our teachers teach
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and the system leadership team
Who we're looking for
We care more about what you can do than where you learned it. If you meet most of what's below, apply.
What everyone needs
- At least two years of hands-on IT support experience, or an associate degree plus relevant work
- Comfort troubleshooting Windows, Apple, and Chromebook devices
- Clear, patient communication with people who aren't technical
- The judgment to handle student and staff data with care
- Respect for our Catholic mission and a willingness to support it
- A clean background check (required for all school employees)
Strong candidates also bring
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, or similar certifications
- Experience with Google Admin Console, Jamf Pro, or other device management tools
- Firewall, web filtering, and backup experience
- K-12 or nonprofit IT experience
For a director-level role, we'd look for
- Five or more years in IT, including time leading systems, projects, or people
- A bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Network design and management across multiple sites
- Cybersecurity planning, incident response, and disaster recovery
- Technology budgeting, E-Rate, and vendor management
