About Maxim Tax Strategies
Maxim Tax Strategies builds and implements proactive tax plans for business owners and real estate investors who paid $100,000+ in federal tax. We handle sales and the client relationship. You build and sign the plan, run the implementation through to its deadlines, and prepare the client's 2026 returns.
What you'll do
- Review each client's last two returns and current-year financials
- Build a written tax plan with each strategy, the estimated savings (assumptions shown) and step-by-step implementation with deadlines
- Run a 60-minute plan review call with the client
- Run implementation end to end: collect the documents, file the elections and forms, set owner salary, accountable plan rates and estimated payments, and sign off each strategy as done
- Coordinate the client's vendors (payroll, retirement plan providers, cost segregation firms, entity filings) and follow up until every strategy is in place before its deadline
- For year-end clients, deliver the plan within 7–10 days of complete documents and get every December 31 item done or scheduled in time
- Prepare and e-file each client's 2026 business and personal returns with the plan's elections and forms
- Represent clients before the IRS and state tax agencies if a return you prepared is examined
What we're looking for
- Active CPA license in good standing and an active PTIN
- An active EFIN, or able to get one before filing season
- 3+ years of proactive tax planning, not just preparation
- Hands-on with S corp reasonable compensation, partnerships, entity structuring, cost segregation and bonus depreciation, real estate professional status and short-term rental rules, cash balance and 401(k) design, PTET elections and accountable plans
- Prepares and e-files 1040, 1120-S and 1065 returns, including the elections and forms the strategies need
- Handles IRS and state exams and notices for the clients you prepare
- Comfortable on camera with high-income clients, explaining strategies in plain English
- Capacity for at least 3 plans a month in November–December and January–April
- E&O insurance, or willing to get it
- Experience with planning software (Corvee, Instead, Holistiplan or similar) is a plus
How it works
- Plan: $2,500, paid by milestone: $1,000 when the draft is delivered, $1,500 after the client review call
- Implementation: $2,500–$3,000 for each client who buys it, covering the implementation work and the client's 2026 business and personal returns. Half when the December 31 items are signed off, half when the IRS accepts the returns
- An admin coordinator helps with scheduling and reminders. You own the technical work and each client's checklist. Vendors bill the client directly.
- Client-facing work is under the Maxim brand; you sign the plans you build
- Confidentiality and non-solicitation agreement required
