Job Description
Your Local Partnership
Overview: The Generous Briton is a charming traditional village pub surrounded by countryside, with a loyal local following and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Popular with villagers, walkers, cyclists, dog owners, families and visitors from nearby towns, the pub currently trades at around £5,000 per week with a 90/10 wet-to-food split, offering plenty of potential to grow its wider appeal.
The business: The Generous Briton combines the character and familiarity of a traditional local with the opportunity to attract customers from a wider catchment. It benefits from welcoming bar areas, a strong community reputation and space to host events, entertainment and community activities. Its location also makes it well placed to capture passing trade from walkers, cyclists and weekend visitors.
The opportunity: The next operator has the chance to build on an established wet-led business while developing additional reasons for customers to visit. Key opportunities include growing the food offer, creating destination dining occasions, introducing events and entertainment, and building stronger links with the surrounding walking, cycling and visitor trade.
Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on and people-focused operator, couple or team with strong organisational and leadership skills and a passion for creating a welcoming pub. Previous hospitality or pub management experience would be an advantage but isn’t essential. The right operator will understand the importance of looking after loyal regulars while having the ambition to grow the business and attract new customers.
What’s in it for you? 20% share of weekly wet sales excluding VAT, and keep 100% of any food sales. Low ingoing costs start with a £5,000 deposit and £360 legal cost. Separate owner’s accommodation is included, with most bills covered except council tax and TV Licence.
Ready to take the next step? Run the Generous Briton and put your own stamp on a characterful village pub with a strong community following. If you’re ready to build on its established wet trade, grow the food offer and make it a destination for locals and visitors alike, enquire today.
