Job Description
Summary: Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (MHHM) is an accredited historic house museum in Morristown, seeking an enthusiastic and organized Part-Time Operations Coordinator. This role supports the Museum's daily administrative and operational functions, assisting in areas such as office administration, marketing, membership, fundraising, events, and visitor services.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate day-to-day office operations and administrative activities
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems and organizational records
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and other administrative materials
- Assist in promoting museum exhibitions, programs, and special events
- Draft and schedule content for newsletters, social media, and the Museum website
- Help maintain the Museum's marketing calendar and promotional materials
- Maintain donor and membership databases and process renewals
- Assist with fundraising campaigns and membership communications
- Prepare donor acknowledgment letters and receipts
- Assist in preparing grant applications and interim and final grant reports in accordance with funding requirements and deadlines
- Assist with planning and coordinating museum programs, lectures, and special events
- Support event setup and day-of operations
- Serve as a welcoming point of contact for museum visitors
- Assist with admissions, retail sales, and visitor inquiries as needed
- Help ensure a positive and professional visitor experience
- Assist with technology, database, and administrative projects as assigned
- Support implementation of operational procedures and workflows
- Track office supply inventory and place orders when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a museum, nonprofit, cultural institution, or historic site
- Familiarity with donor, membership, or collections management databases (such as PastPerfect) is preferred, along with the ability to learn new software platforms
- Interest in local history, preservation, or public history

Benefits: The Museum provides a laptop computer, Museum email account, and support for approved professional development opportunities., This position is scheduled for two days per week, with a regular schedule established in consultation with the successful candidate., Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required to support Museum programs and special events.
