Job Description
Summary: Lansing School District is dedicated to providing an excellent education to over 10,000 students in a diverse urban community. They are seeking a Secondary Science Teacher to deliver world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment, while collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate passion for and expertise of physical sciences, chemistry, life sciences, and other secondary science content
- Provide world-class instruction in science to middle and high school students
- Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
- Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
- Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or science field (i.e. biology, chemistry, physics, etc.)
- Previous experience working with middle school and high school students
- Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a secondary science endorsement (i.e. DI, DX, or DQ preferred but possible to accept IA, IC, IE, IH, IP or any of the other phased out subject specific endorsements)
- Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
- Training in CRPBIS, Amplify Science, and other related instructional methodologies
Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in education, Valid Michigan teaching certificate
