VP of Finance at Juno in Location not listed

About Juno

Juno is the leading student loan marketplace. By organizing borrowers into collective bargaining groups, we negotiate better rates and terms than individuals could ever secure on their own — and we've saved members hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. We're a lean, high-caliber team that moves fast, ships often, and cares deeply about doing right by the people we serve.

The Role

We're looking for a VP of Finance to own our financial function end to end. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the founders. You'll be equal parts strategic partner and operator — building the models and infrastructure that guide the business while also rolling up your sleeves to close the books, run analyses, and answer hard questions with data.

This is a startup, not a corporation. You'll build the finance function rather than inherit one, wear multiple hats, and thrive on ambiguity. If you want a large team and mature processes on day one, this isn't the role. If you want ownership, proximity to decisions, and real impact, read on.

What You'll Do

• Own financial strategy and planning — build and maintain the financial model, drive budgeting and forecasting, and give the founders a clear line of sight into unit economics, and growth.
• Run the finance operation — accounting, month-end close, cash management, AP/AR, payroll, and audit readiness. You set up the systems and, early on, often run them yourself.
• Be the numbers partner to the founders — turn ambiguous questions into rigorous analysis, pressure-test decisions, and help set priorities.
• Lead fundraising and investor relations — support capital raises, manage the data room, and own board and investor reporting.
• Own compliance, tax, and risk — keep us clean and audit-ready as a company operating in the financial services space.
• Build for scale — stand up the tools, controls, and (eventually) the team that let finance keep pace with the business.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a finance leader (VP Finance, or senior finance operator), ideally with startup or high-growth company experience.
• Genuinely hands-on — comfortable owning both the strategy and the spreadsheet. No task is beneath you.
• Strong command of modern finance and business tooling — you're fluent in today's SaaS finance stack (e.g., ERP/accounting, FP&A, billing, BI) and comfortable working closely with a technical team and their systems.
• AI-forward — you actively use AI tools to work faster and smarter, and you look for ways to automate and augment the finance function rather than throw headcount at it.
• Excellent judgment, low ego, and high output. You do great work with minimal oversight in a fast-moving environment.
• Fintech, lead gen/marketing, or financial services experience is a strong plus.

Why Juno

• Work directly with the founders and a high-caliber team on a product with real, measurable impact on people's lives.
• Own the finance function from the ground up.
• A culture that values speed, ownership, and using the best modern tools — including AI — to punch above our weight
