Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal at IVC in Lichfield, England, GB

Permanent Vet at Pool House Vets, Lichfield

Up to £68,000 (DOE)

Relocation allowance of up to £5000 (pro rata)

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners. At Pool House Vet, we’re looking for a talented individual to join our compassionate and experienced team. Here, you’ll find not only excellent clinical opportunities but also a genuinely supportive work environment.

The role offers a well-balanced and varied caseload, with a good mix of surgery and medicine. We place a strong emphasis on fully working up cases, and there are excellent opportunities for case continuity across our clinical team. It’s extremely rare for our team to refer a case out of Pool House, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to see cases through from initial presentation to diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.

You’ll be spending most of your time at our hospital site in Lichfield, but you’ll also be required to spend the rest of your working hours covering exclusively at one of our other four sites: Armitage, Burntwood, Mere Green or Grange Hill. Please note that you won’t be required to rotate between all our branches.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

About us

We’re a team of 20 vets with a wide range of experience and skills, including certificate holders in Anaesthesia, ECC, Imaging and Surgery. We also have a colleague who is shortly due to complete their Ophthalmology certification. Our practice boasts a number of facilities including, X-ray, dental X-ray, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, ultrasound and comprehensive lab.

The rota

Ideally, we’re looking for someone to join us on a full-time basis, covering 40 hours per week over 4 days. There’s also our shared weekend rota. We’re able to also consider part-time applications, as we’re keen to be as flexible as possible.

Here's what the team have to say

“I have been working at the practice for over 9 years and have really valued being part of such a supportive and sociable team. It is a busy practice with an interesting and varied caseload, which provides plenty of opportunity to develop your clinical skills and knowledge. One of the things I particularly value is the continuity of care we are able to provide, including the opportunity to cover our own out-of-hours cases. This is especially rewarding if you enjoy following cases through and seeing the longer-term outcomes for your patients. If you are looking for a busy practice with an interesting caseload, good equipment, excellent clinical standards and a friendly, supportive team, I would recommend it.” – Sophie, vet
