Overview

A technical delivery leader who owns the operational engine behind Nike's data automation and reporting ecosystem. This role drives the discovery, prioritization, testing, implementation, and adoption of data engineering and automation solutions that improve business processes, increase operational visibility, and reduce manual effort across marketing and content operations.

Rather than functioning solely as a data engineer, the Technical Project Lead serves as the bridge between business stakeholders, technical teams, and delivery resources, translating operational challenges into scalable data solutions. The role partners closely with Nike stakeholders to identify opportunities, validate requirements, oversee implementation, and ensure reporting outputs generate actionable business insights.

The Technical Project Lead operates Insight Global as a true managed service partner, owning the execution strategy, technical delivery, and continuous improvement roadmap across automation, ETL development, data validation, and reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities

Own Solution Discovery & Opportunity Development

• Automation Opportunity Identification: Serve as the primary point of contact for business teams seeking efficiency improvements, proactively identifying manual processes, bottlenecks, reporting gaps, and automation opportunities across Nike's ecosystem.
• Requirements & Solution Design: Translate business needs into technically feasible solutions by documenting requirements, evaluating data sources, mapping workflows, and recommending implementation approaches that align with Nike's architecture and governance standards.
• Automation Portfolio Management: Maintain a pipeline of automation opportunities, balancing effort, business value, technical complexity, and stakeholder priorities to ensure the highest-impact initiatives are executed first.

Drive Data Engineering & Automation Delivery

• ETL Development & Validation: Lead the design, testing, and implementation of data pipelines between Nike platforms and enterprise data environments, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and operational reliability.
• Technical Delivery Leadership: Coordinate technical execution across stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and platform owners while managing risks, dependencies, timelines, testing activities, and release readiness.
• End-to-End Automation Ownership: Oversee implementation from concept through production deployment, ensuring solutions are documented, validated, monitored, and successfully adopted by business teams.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Partner with Nike's technology and automation agendas to identify opportunities for workflow automation, process optimization, AI-enabled improvements, and emerging capabilities that reduce operational effort and improve business outcomes.

Enable Business Insights & Reporting

• Data Visualization & Reporting: Design and maintain dashboards, reporting solutions, and production health monitoring tools that transform newly available data into meaningful business insights.
• Insight Generation: Partner with Nike stakeholders to interpret reporting outputs, identify trends, surface operational risks, and enable data-driven decision making.
• Measurement Frameworks: Define and track success metrics for automation initiatives, including adoption rates, time savings, process efficiency improvements, data quality measures, and business impact indicators.
• Reporting Governance: Establish standards for reporting accuracy, refresh cadence, documentation, and stakeholder communication to ensure confidence in business-critical insights.

Own Technical Quality & Operational Readiness

• Testing & Validation: Develop and oversee testing strategies that validate data accuracy, pipeline performance, automation reliability, and system integrations before production deployment.
• Production Support & Monitoring: Implement monitoring processes that proactively identify failures, data discrepancies, or performance issues while coordinating remediation activities when required.
• Documentation & Knowledge Management: Maintain technical documentation, process maps, solution designs, and operational runbooks to ensure long-term sustainability and supportability of deployed solutions.
• Scalability & Sustainability: Design solutions with reusability and scalability in mind, reducing technical debt and enabling future expansion across Nike business functions.

Partnership with Nike Leadership

• Strategic Technology Partner: Partner with Nike stakeholders to understand business priorities and align automation roadmaps to organizational goals rather than executing isolated technical requests.
• Transparency & Reporting: Provide ongoing visibility into automation pipelines, project health, implementation progress, risks, dependencies, and realized business value.
• Escalation & Governance: Escalate strategic decisions, architectural considerations, or business trade-offs while independently managing technical execution and delivery operations.
• Capability Expansion: Identify opportunities to extend Insight Global's value through additional automation services, reporting solutions, data engineering support, and advanced analytics initiatives.
