About the Role:
The Lead Steward plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and overall maintenance of hospitality or event venues across the United States. This position is responsible for leading a team of stewards to uphold high standards of sanitation and operational efficiency, directly impacting guest satisfaction and safety. The Lead Steward coordinates daily cleaning schedules, manages inventory of cleaning supplies, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. By fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment, the Lead Steward drives continuous improvement in service quality and operational workflows. Ultimately, this role serves as a key contributor to the seamless execution of events or daily operations by maintaining impeccable venue conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a stewarding or custodial role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to hospitality or event venues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in hospitality management or related field.
- Experience working in large-scale event venues, hotels, or food service environments.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency with inventory management software or systems.
- Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and team development.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of stewards to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in all assigned areas.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure timely and thorough sanitation.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary to avoid shortages.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and company policies.
- Train new team members on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with event coordinators, kitchen staff, and management to support smooth event operations.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and report issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, incidents, and team performance.
