Ecommerce Marketing Lead at HyperionDev · Durban

ABOUT US

HyperionDev is one of the largest providers of accelerated online education in EMEA and one of the oldest providers of 'coding bootcamps' in the world. We work with top universities such as Imperial College London, University of Chicago, UCT and Stellenbosch University to deliver structured technical and digital courses and bootcamps that accelerate people into fulfilling careers. We have been recognised as one of the top education technology scaleups in the world and have gained the financial backing of Meta (previously Facebook), which recognised us as the most socially impactful startup operating in Africa, where we initially started our work.

We are dedicated to closing the global digital skills gap by integrating online education with human mentorship and expert code review, powered by a workforce in Southern Africa, to lower the cost of accessible technology education. This model has been successful, allowing us to reach millions of learners a year from over 60 countries.

Our ecosystem also includes HyperDev, a developer-focused spin-out building AI tools that help people turn ideas into working software while retaining control over their code. HyperDev extends our mission beyond education, supporting how developers build, learn and grow throughout their careers.

We're backed by nearly 2000 investors and have raised the largest crowdfunding round for an edtech company in history. As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale-up tech business, join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Choosing a bootcamp is a significant decision. Prospective students need to understand their options, trust the provider and feel confident about taking their next step.

We’re looking for an Ecommerce Marketing Lead to make that journey clearer, more compelling and more effective at HyperionDev.

You’ll lead our creative, brand and product marketing team, bringing together audience insight, course positioning, content and design to improve how we present and market our courses. You’ll give particular attention to our website: helping prospective students find the right course, understand its value and progress towards enrolment.

Working closely with our Head of Paid Media and growth team, you’ll connect the demand generated through paid media, SEO and CRM with a persuasive, consistent experience across course pages, campaigns and the application journey.

This is a leadership role for someone who combines commercial judgement with strong creative and product marketing instincts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Website Experience & Conversion: Improve the website and course pages to help prospective students find the right course and progress towards enrolment.

Product Marketing & Positioning: Develop clear, compelling course propositions and messaging informed by student needs, market research and competitor insight.

Course Launches & Campaigns: Lead coordinated marketing plans for new and existing courses, aligning creative, messaging and delivery across teams.

Brand Management: Maintain a consistent brand identity and voice across the website, campaigns and customer communications.

Creative & Team Leadership: Lead and develop copywriters, designers and brand/product marketers, setting clear priorities, briefs and quality standards.

Customer Journey Optimisation: Work with growth, admissions and development teams to identify and reduce friction from initial interest through to enrolment.

Performance & Reporting: Track conversion and commercial results, using insights to prioritise improvements and communicate their impact.

Minimum

• At least 5 years’ experience in e-commerce, digital or product marketing, including 2 years managing a multi-disciplined team.
• Demonstrated success improving website conversion and driving measurable growth in sales or customer acquisition.
• Experience developing product positioning, messaging and integrated marketing campaigns.
• Experience managing copywriters, designers and marketing specialists.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate customer insights and performance data into actionable improvements.
• Proven ability to collaborate with growth, sales and development teams to deliver commercial objectives.

Preferred

• Experience in education, edtech or a business with a considered purchase and longer customer decision cycle.
• Experience leading brand and product marketing across multiple products or markets.
• Practical experience with A/B testing, customer journey optimisation and website analytics tools.
• Experience planning and delivering product launches.
• A relevant qualification in marketing, business or a related discipline.

Flexible & remote working: We are a remote-friendly organisation and offer flexible work options.

Generous annual leave and medical benefits: We provide up to 19 annual leave days as part of our leave policy, as well as health insurance or medical aid benefits for our staff.

Join the heart of tech in Africa, the US, and Europe: You'll work with the best of the best and rub shoulders with the world leaders in edtech, developer education, and developer assessments. Join one of the most ambitious and highest-performing tech companies in the space, with a founding team that draws their former experience from companies such as Google, Amazon, GetSmarter/2U, & Yoco.

Life-changing work: Solve real problems that make education and tech careers accessible to those who need it most: you're allowed to brag about it.
