Job Description
Summary: HKS, Inc. is a firm that values quality, innovation, and growth, and they are seeking a Summer Intern for their Cities & Communities team. The intern will support project teams through entry-level tasks, assist in preparing presentations, and participate in design discussions while fostering a collaborative working relationship with team members.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the project team through entry-level tasks
- Assists with the preparation of presentations and performing basic analytical tasks as needed
- Prepares presentations as needed for client/project team review and community engagement
- Participates in design discussions and charrettes
- Helps compile data and conducts research for the project team
- Works on multiple projects and collaborates with team members
- Participates in officewide initiatives and/or intern specific projects for presentations to peer group
- Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm’s cultural norms, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and growth
- Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
- Fosters awareness of the firm’s principles of ‘design excellence’ in the integration of responsible and regenerative design practice with the art of design
- Supports project development by understanding community values
- Develops understanding of the financial implications of overhead and chargeable time, including accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
- Fosters awareness of the importance of quality and timely work for growing and maintaining client relationships and the basic concept of business development
Required Qualifications:
- Currently earning a professional degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or Urban Planning preferred
- Typically 0-2 years of experience
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work in team environment
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling in Rhino or Revit, or GIS analysis preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
- Knowledge of additional programs may be preferred based on designated team
