Copywriter at Hiebing in Madison, WI

SPEAK IN DATA. DREAM IN COLOR. CREATE MOMENTUM. At Hiebing, we believe the best ideas happen at the intersection of insight and imagination. We speak in data and dream in color—pairing strategic thinking with bold creativity to build brands that endure and ideas that move people. We're insight-driven ideamakers who give a damn. About our clients. About each other. About the craft. We challenge assumptions, ask better questions and believe exceptional work is built through curiosity, collaboration and the courage to push ideas further. Around here, "Yes, and..." isn't just something we say—it's how we create. Our We Before Me philosophy reminds us that the strongest work is never about one person—it's about what we build together. We're looking for a Copywriter who's excited by the challenge of turning insight into ideas and ideas into momentum. Someone who loves the craft of writing, brings thoughtful judgment and critical thinking to every brief, and believes the strongest creative work happens when talented people build on one another's thinking. If you're curious, collaborative and always looking for the better idea, we'd love to meet you. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Develop compelling concepts, copy and brand voices across print, digital, social, audio, video and emerging platforms. • Partner with art directors, creative directors, strategists, producers and cross-functional teams to develop integrated campaigns that are strategically grounded, creatively bold and executed with exceptional craftsmanship. • Participate in brainstorming sessions, ask thoughtful questions and uncover insights that lead to stronger, more meaningful creative ideas. • Write across channels while maintaining authentic brand voices and adapting messaging for different audiences and platforms. • Present creative work internally and externally with confidence, clarity and enthusiasm. • Apply critical thinking and creative judgment to evaluate ideas through the lens of strategy, audience and business objectives. • Stay curious about culture, consumer behavior, emerging technologies and AI-enabled creative tools that support the creative process. • Use AI thoughtfully to accelerate research, exploration and ideation while ensuring every deliverable reflects strategic thinking, original ideas and exceptional craftsmanship. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of creative excellence. • Champion the craft of writing by refining language, challenging assumptions and continually raising the bar for the work. • Contribute to a culture where curiosity, collaboration and continuous learning help everyone—and every idea—grow stronger. WHAT YOU BRING • 3–5 years of copywriting experience, preferably within an advertising agency or integrated marketing environment. • An outstanding portfolio demonstrating both big ideas and exceptional craftsmanship across multiple channels. • Experience writing across traditional, digital, social, video and audio platforms. • Strong critical thinking and creative judgment, with the ability to evaluate ideas through the lens of strategy, audience and business impact. • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively. • A collaborative mindset that embraces feedback, builds on others' ideas and contributes positively to team success. • Curiosity, initiative and a passion for continually improving your craft. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Communications, English or a related field. • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF... • You believe the best ideas are built where insight and intuition meet. • You ask thoughtful questions before offering answers. • You care as much about the craft as you do the concept. • You know great writing starts with understanding people. • You're endlessly curious and committed to continually learning. • You naturally build on ideas with a "Yes, and..." mindset. • You believe the strongest creative comes from teams, not egos. • You care about creating momentum—for clients, teammates and yourself. WHY HIEBING? At Hiebing, you'll work alongside smart, kind and incredibly talented people who genuinely love making each other's ideas better. You'll collaborate across disciplines, work on integrated campaigns for regional and national brands and have the opportunity to create work that matters—for our clients, our communities and each other. We're a place where curiosity is celebrated, craftsmanship is respected and thoughtful judgment is just as valuable as bold ideas. We believe in Dreaming in Color, speaking in data and never settling for the expected.
