Job Summary

Service Technician (Diesel Fitter) is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, diagnostics and assembly of diesel engines and generator sets. The role requires a qualifies diesel fitter with strong mechanical expertise to ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely and according to company and manufacturer standards. Technician will work both in the workshop and on-site, delivering high-quality service and supporting customer uptime and reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, and repairs on diesel engines and generator sets
• Diagnose mechanical and engine-related faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and software
• Strip, inspect, assess and assemble diesel engines and related components according to specifications.
• Conduct overhauls and rebuilds of engines and associated systems.
• Install, commission and test generators and diesel-powered equipment.
• Provide technical feedback to the foreman or Operations Manager on recurring faults or product improvements.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards
• Support warranty processes by ensuring accurate fault diagnosis and reporting.
• Accurately complete job cards, inspection report and service document
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Adhere to all company health and safety regulations in the workshop and on site
• Conduct pre-task risk assessments before commencing work
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding fuel, oil and waste disposal
• Wear required PPE at all times

Skills and Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Qualified Diesel Fitter Trade Certificate
• Valid EB Driver's License
• Computer Literacy
• Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter, Mechanical Technician
• Field service experience
• Competence in mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
