Job Description
Glenmac Heating is a growing, family-run domestic heating company specialising in heating maintenance, repair and installation.
Due to continued growth and expansion, we are looking to engage an experienced self-employed RGII Registered Gas Installer / Heating Engineer to work with our servicing and maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced heating engineer who takes pride in their work, provides a high standard of customer service and is looking to build a long-term working relationship with a growing company.
The successful contractor will carry out domestic heating servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, repairs and installations across Dublin, Kildare, Meath and surrounding areas.
The Role
As a self-employed heating engineer working with Glenmac Heating, your responsibilities will include:
- Installation and commissioning of domestic gas boilers
- Wiring and fault-finding of S-plan and Y-plan heating systems
- Servicing, fault-finding and repair of gas boilers
- Installation, servicing and repair of oil boilers
- Diagnosing domestic heating and plumbing faults and providing effective solutions
- Completing job reports, invoices and required job information using phone-based job management software
- Taking customer payments where required
- Working from a pre-scheduled daily job list
- Maintaining clear and regular communication with the management and operations team
- Providing a professional and customer-focused service to Glenmac Heating customers
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and cleanliness
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing
- Current RGII registration
- Minimum 5 years' experience in domestic plumbing and heating
- Full, clean driving licence
- Strong technical knowledge of domestic heating systems
- Practical experience wiring and fault-finding S-plan and Y-plan heating systems
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy daily schedule
- Self-employed and responsible for maintaining all appropriate tax, insurance, registration and other requirements associated with operating as an independent contractor
Desirable
- Experience with air-to-water heat pump systems
- Experience across a broad range of domestic heating systems
- Familiarity with mobile apps and job management software
- Additional heating or renewable-energy qualifications
Heat pump experience is an advantage, but ongoing training and development opportunities will be available.

Self-Employed Contractor Arrangement
This position is offered on a self-employed contractor basis.
The successful contractor will operate as an independent self-employed heating engineer and will be responsible for their own tax and statutory obligations applicable to self-employment.
This is not an employee position and the advertised earnings represent potential contractor earnings rather than an employee salary.
Glenmac Heating will provide an organised workload, scheduled jobs and the necessary day-to-day operational support to enable the successful contractor to carry out their work efficiently and professionally.
