Rack System Architect at FuriosaAI in Seoul, South Korea
Job Description
About FuriosaAI
FuriosaAI builds high-performance, high-efficiency AI compute for the Inference Era. Founded in 2017 by veteran semiconductor and AI algorithm engineers, Furiosa operates globally with offices in Korea and Silicon Valley, along with a compiler-focused R&D lab in Lisbon.
Our vision is to make AI computing sustainable, enabling access to powerful AI for everyone on Earth. We solve the AI hardware energy and operational cost crisis at the architectural level, rather than through brute force, building the world's first truly AI-native compute platform to unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence for every enterprise.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced system engineer to define the overall physical architecture of our next-generation rack-scale AI computing systems.
You will connect requirements across compute, networking, mechanical, power, thermal, interconnect, and manufacturing domains into a single coherent rack-level architecture, and serve as the primary technical interface to external design partners, silicon and networking vendors, and CM/ODM partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the overall rack-level system architecture for next-generation AI accelerator platforms
- Establish and allocate system-level power, thermal, mechanical, volume, and interconnect budgets
- Translate product requirements into quantified engineering requirements that external partners can execute against
- Define interfaces and ownership boundaries between internal teams and external partners
- Evaluate architecture options and drive system-level trade-offs across compute density, interconnect bandwidth, power delivery, and cooling
- Review external design proposals and ensure alignment with system requirements
- Define technical requirements and SOW inputs for design houses and CM/ODM partners
- Identify system-level risks and drive mitigation plans
- Establish system-level design standards and technical review processes
Minimum Qualifications
- Extensive experience in server, data center, AI/HPC, or other complex computing system design
- Proven experience taking complex hardware systems from system definition through production
- Strong working knowledge across multiple system-level disciplines, including mechanical, power, thermal, and high-speed interconnect
- Experience working with external design houses, vendors, or CM/ODM partners
- Strong system-level problem-solving and technical decision-making skills
- Excellent English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with rack-scale AI or HPC systems
- Experience with OCP rack architectures such as ORv3 or ORW
- Experience with high-density, liquid-cooled compute platforms
- Experience working with silicon and networking vendors on system-level definition
- Experience building a system architecture from early concept through production
Why Join FuriosaAI
The defining bottleneck of the AI era is building the right hardware and software stack to run it at global scale. Furiosa is solving this challenge holistically from the ground up.
With our flagship chip, RNGD, in mass production today and our next-generation platform in development with Broadcom, we are proving that full-stack, tensor-native compute is the future of AI infrastructure. This is a pivotal moment to join our team, right as we accelerate our global expansion.
At Furiosa, you will:
Solve AI’s Most Urgent Challenge. Help build the high-performance, energy-efficient inference hardware and software required to fulfill the promise of advanced AI.
Pioneer Full-Stack Co-Design. Work with teams that are architecting solutions from silicon up through the compiler (featuring innovations like Tensor Contraction Language and Virtual ISA) and serving frameworks.
Ship Real-World Silicon, Software, and Solutions. Turn breakthrough technology into commercial deployment. RNGD is in mass production with TSMC and running live enterprise workloads for global leaders like LG AI Research and Samsung SDS.
Partner With the Industry's Best. Collaborate across an elite global ecosystem that includes TSMC, Broadcom, SK Hynix, and GUC.
