One conversation can change the direction of a day. One trusted adult can change much more.

The teenage years can be challenging. For youth working through behavioral and emotional needs, having a dependable adult who listens, sets boundaries, celebrates progress, and continues to show up can make a lasting difference.

As a Youth Counselor with our South Village PMIC program, you’ll work directly with male and female youth ages 12–17, helping them build the skills, confidence, and healthy relationships they need to move forward.

You don't have to have all the answers.

You do need to be consistent, compassionate, dependable, and willing to meet youth where they are while helping them get where they want to go.

What is PMIC?

PMIC stands for Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children.

South Village PMIC provides 24-hour residential treatment and support for youth who need a higher level of care for behavioral and emotional needs.

Our team provides a structured, therapeutic environment where teens can feel safe, work toward individualized treatment goals, develop healthier coping skills, strengthen communication, and learn to make positive choices.

This isn't just about managing behaviors. It's about understanding the person behind them and helping youth recognize what they're capable of.

YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER EVERY SHIFT. THEY MAY REMEMBER YOU.

Maybe it's helping a teen work through a difficult moment instead of giving up.

Maybe it's being there when they accomplish something they didn't think they could.

Maybe it's holding them accountable while reminding them that one bad decision doesn't have to define what happens next.

That's the impact of a Youth Counselor.

If you're looking for work with purpose, connection, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, South Village may be the place for you.

BE CONSISTENT. BUILD TRUST. CHANGE LIVES.

Apply today and become the kind of adult a young person can count on.

We're looking for someone who can stay calm when a child is having a hard day, celebrate them when they're having a great one, set healthy boundaries, follow through, and come back tomorrow ready to try again!
