Experience Knows
Certified Peer Recovery Supporter at Experience Knows in Remote
Job Description
Peer Support Guide — Remote, Set Your Own Rate (Independent Contractor)
Experience Knows is a peer support platform. People come to us facing addiction, alcoholism, grief, chronic illness, caregiving, toxic relationships, and more — and we connect them with someone who has already walked that road.
That person is a Guide. Not a therapist, not a counselor, not a volunteer. A trained peer with real lived experience, meeting someone on level ground by video, at a rate the Guide sets themselves.
If you already have people you work with — a group you facilitate, folks you support informally, a following built from talking honestly about what you came through — you can bring them here and get paid properly for work you may already be doing for free. We give you the scheduling, the video room, the payment processing, the reminders, the no-show protection, and more, so you can stop running all of that out of your texts and your calendar.
We also send Guides clients from our own directory and matching — but you don't have to wait on that to start earning.
What you'd do
Hold 30- or 60-minute video sessions with people facing something you've faced yourself
Offer non-clinical peer support: wellness, goals, everyday coping tools, and the honest reassurance that comes from someone who's been there
Set your own rate and your own availability, and work as much or as little as fits your life
Work entirely from home
What we require
Lived experience. Guides are here because of what they personally came through. Tell us about it when you apply.
Our Guide Test and Crisis Framework. Both are completed during onboarding, at no cost, before your first session. The Guide Test covers how peer support works and where its boundaries sit. The Crisis Framework covers what to do when someone is in danger — recognizing it, responding, and handing off to emergency services. Nobody guides here without passing both.
The basics. 18 or older, a private space and reliable internet for video, and a Stripe account for payouts.
You ideally also have:
A peer support certification. A state credential such as Ohio's Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (CPRS) or your state's equivalent, or the national Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential. You'll upload it during onboarding.
You do not have to pay anything to be a Guide. Accepted Guides start on our free Basic level and can hold sessions, take payment, and get paid without ever subscribing.
