industrial machine vision and motion control solutions.
In this hands-on role, you will work with cameras, optics, lighting, image processing, motion systems, robotics,
and industrial controls to deliver reliable, high-performance automation applications.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop solutions for inspection, measurement,
defect detection, robotic guidance, and precision motion applications. From initial development and system
integration through commissioning and production support, you will help transform customer requirements into
practical automation solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical problem-solving skills with practical experience developing and
deploying vision and motion applications in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, program, and commission industrial machine vision and motion control applications.
• Develop vision solutions for inspection, dimensional measurement, defect detection, product
identification, and robotic guidance.
• Select, configure, and optimize cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, and related vision hardware.
• Develop and optimize image processing applications, inspection tools, and algorithms to meet customer
specifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot vision systems using platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, or equivalent
technologies.
• Integrate machine vision and motion systems with PLCs, industrial robots, servo drives, and automated
equipment.
• Support camera calibration, optical setup, lighting optimization, coordinate transformations, and system
accuracy validation.
• Develop application code, scripts, and supporting tools using Python, C++, C#, or other appropriate
programming technologies.
• Troubleshoot vision, motion, communication, and integration issues during equipment build, installation,
commissioning, and production.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams to deliver integrated
automation solutions.
• Conduct testing, performance validation, and application optimization to improve system reliability and
inspection accuracy.
• Maintain technical documentation, application backups, configuration records, and commissioning
results.
• Provide technical support and recommend improvements to existing vision and motion control
applications.
Qualifications
• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mechatronics,
Robotics, or a related field.
• Three or more years of experience in industrial machine vision, motion control, robotics, or related
automation applications.
• Hands-on experience with industrial machine vision platforms, preferably Cognex, Keyence, or
equivalent systems.
• Strong understanding of optics, lighting, camera selection, calibration, image acquisition, and image
processing.
• Programming experience with Python, C++, C#, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with PLCs, industrial robots, servo systems, motion controllers, and industrial communication
networks.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and work through problems methodically.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
• Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and support project deadlines.
Additional assets:
• Experience with OpenCV, AI-based inspection, machine learning, or advanced image analysis.
• Experience with robot guidance, vision-to-robot calibration, 2D or 3D vision, or precision positioning.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and TCP/IP.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly automation, or high-speed production environments.
• Experience developing reusable vision tools, software libraries, or standardized automation solutions.
Additional Requirements
• Valid driver's license and passport.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer facilities in Canada and the United States, including
occasional overnight stays as project requirements dictate.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with applicable customer-site requirements.
What We Offer
• Competitive annual salary of $70,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Comprehensive employee benefits.
• Opportunities to work on innovative machine vision, robotics, precision motion, and custom automation
projects.
• Exposure to a variety of industrial applications and advanced automation technologies.
• A collaborative engineering environment that encourages technical development and problem-solving.
