Job Description:

Clubhouse Kids is seeking a professional, energetic, and caring Preschool Teacher to join our team at our Gas House Pike child care center in Frederick, MD. This full-time position works primarily with children ages 3–4 in a supportive, team-oriented environment. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, engaging environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

Primary Work Location:

• 8420 Gas House Pike, Suite P, Frederick, MD 21701
• Located near the intersection of Gas House Pike and Monocacy Boulevard in Frederick, MD

Job Type:

• Full-time, permanent position; approximately 40 hours per week

Shift:

• Monday–Friday schedule, generally 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break. Exact shift may vary based on classroom enrollment, children's attendance schedules, and center staffing needs

Preschool Teacher Responsibilities:

Our Preschool Teachers are responsible for the daily management and supervision of their classroom, including providing attentive care, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, supporting children's personal care and hygiene needs, and using positive guidance and developmentally appropriate classroom-management practices.

Preschool Teachers plan and implement engaging activities that support children's physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. Our teachers develop and implement domain-based lesson plans aligned with Maryland’s Early Learning Standards, supporting children’s growth and development across all learning domains.

Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Required Qualifications:

Candidates must meet MSDE Office of Child Care requirements to qualify as a Preschool Child Care Teacher, including:

• Minimum of 19 years of age
• High school diploma, high school equivalency certificate, or qualifying college coursework
• Successful completion of 90 clock hours (or 6 semester hours/equivalent) of approved preschool preservice training, generally consisting of 45 hours of Child Development and 45 hours of Preschool Curriculum, or another MSDE-approved qualifying alternative
• 9-hour Communication Course or an MSDE-acceptable college course substitute
• 3 hours of approved ADA training
• Completion of required Basic Health and Safety training
• Required qualifying experience working primarily with preschool-age children, qualifying college education, or an MSDE-approved combination of education and experience
• Ability to successfully complete all required criminal background checks and fingerprinting requirements

Clubhouse Kids Qualifications:

• Must meet all requirements stipulated by MSDE (listed above) for this position
• Minimum of one year of experience working with preschool-age children in a Maryland-licensed child care center required; two or more years preferred
• Ability to pass standard illicit drug use testing
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or currently working toward a degree, preferred but not required
• Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain
• Friendly, outgoing, professional, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain professional and composed in challenging situations
• Ability to communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with children, families, co-workers, and management
• Must be able to safely perform the physical activities required in a preschool classroom, including frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting; getting down to children's level; participating in indoor and outdoor activities; and regularly lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds. Must also be able to see and hear well enough to effectively supervise children and maintain a safe classroom environment
• Ability to follow established classroom cleaning, sanitizing, health, and safety procedures consistent with applicable MSDE, Maryland Department of Health, and other relevant health and safety guidance
• Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency
• Ability to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons
• Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
• Classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility is a plus
