Job Description: Accounting Data Analyst
Summary/Objective
The Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support the Accounting Team's efforts to maintain accurate financial and operational data. This role will develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools that enable ongoing monitoring of key accounting metrics, including product costs, inventory movement and balances, accounts receivable, and other financial data.
Using a variety of analytical tools and reporting technologies, the Data Analyst will transform raw data into meaningful, decision-ready information for accounting leadership. This individual will work closely with the Accounting Team to identify data discrepancies, improve reporting processes, automate recurring analyses, and support data-driven decision-making.
In addition to analytical responsibilities, the Data Analyst will assist with accounting processes and other administrative duties as needed to support the department's operational objectives.
The Data Analyst reports directly to the Retail Accounting Manager.
Essential Functions
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and automated data monitoring tools.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor the accuracy of product costs, inventory transactions and balances, accounts receivable, and other accounting data.
• Investigate data variances, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Present findings and recommendations to accounting leadership through reports and visualizations.
• Assist with accounting activities and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment
Professional office environment. This position will be located at Headquarters in Springfield, IL.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full-time position and is exempt from minimum wage and overtime pay requirements under federal and all applicable state or local laws. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5 p.m.
Travel
This position does not require travel.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience with Agvance and Power BI preferred.
• 3-5 Years Experience in data mining, analysis, and reporting
• Knowledge of agronomy a plus: crop production, fertility, seed, and crop protection.
• Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate with leadership.
• Must be organized, detail orientated, dependable and flexible.
• Possess a passion for analysis.
