Job Description
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Full Time · Location: FL, Brooksville, FL, US
Black Diamond Coatings, Inc. (BDC Brands) is a veteran- and family-owned manufacturer of premium, environmentally friendly home improvement products. Our products are distributed through Amazon, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Walmart, and our own e-commerce site. Headquartered in Brooksville, Florida, we operate with an entrepreneurial spirit, high integrity, and a strong belief in teamwork, continuous improvement, and excellence. Our brands — DOMINATOR, AQUA-X, and OBSESS — are built on a simple belief: the best product, with the best support, wins.
Mission: Creating Trustworthy Solutions Beyond Expectations.
Vision: Our trusted brands deliver building and home improvement product solutions that “WOW” our DIY and Pro customers, making Black Diamond Coatings a household name.
Position summary
The Graphic Designer builds the visual tools that help BDC sell. This role owns the Shopify site development and management (e.g., product page graphics, banners, section updates, on-page SEO), as well as the sales-enablement library, sales sheets, spec sheets, line cards, presentation decks, trade show materials, and account-specific collateral.
Why this role matters: BDC is scaling toward 10X growth, and omnichannel is a key way to win. When our Shopify pages and other eCommerce channels are sharp and current, we convert. This role turns product information into sales ammunition — fast, accurately, and to a standard our competitors can’t match.
Champion BDC’s core values
• Embody BDC’s core values in every project — with the sales team, marketing team, vendors, and account partners.
• Reinforce the company’s culture of excellence and commitment by holding every deliverable to the BDC standard.
• Do more with less — deliver fast turnarounds without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
• Bring positive energy and a “figure it out” mindset to every request, every deadline, every day.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Shopify execution
• Build and modify Shopify sections and theme content to support promotions, launches, and merchandising direction set by the Growth Marketing Manager.
• Update and upload product images, graphics, and banners on the BDC Shopify storefront.
• Leverage innovative ideas to continually test and improve.
• Apply on-page SEO fundamentals to product pages: image alt text, file naming, page titles, and meta descriptions.
• Keep product listings visually consistent, accurate, and on-brand.
Sales and marketing collateral
• Design and maintain sales sheets, spec sheets, line cards, and one-pagers for the sales team across DOMINATOR, AQUA-X, and OBSESS.
• Build presentation decks and trade-show materials for retailer, distributor, and key-account meetings.
• Keep all sales collateral consistent with BDC brand standards.
Sales team support
• Work directly with the sales team to turn product information into clear, persuasive visuals.
• Turn around custom materials quickly for key accounts, trade shows, and new product launches.
• Prioritize competing requests and communicate realistic timelines; escalate conflicts early.
Project and asset management
• Own projects from concept through final, production-ready print and web files.
• Organize and maintain a searchable library of sales assets for easy reuse by the sales and marketing teams.
• Proof all work for accuracy — specs, pricing, claims, and brand elements — before release.
Key performance indicators
• Turnaround time: standard collateral requests completed within 3 business days; rush requests within 24–48 hours.
• Accuracy: zero uncorrected spec/pricing errors reaching the field or storefront.
• Currency: 100% of active sales collateral reflects current products, pricing, and claims (audited quarterly).
• Shopify upkeep: product page updates and banner refreshes completed within agreed-upon sprint timelines; alt text and image SEO completed for all new listings.
• Sales team satisfaction: positive internal feedback from sales reps on quality and responsiveness (reviewed quarterly).
Success profile – what we’re looking for
Core design skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (required); InDesign strongly preferred for multi-page collateral.
• Solid command of layout, typography, hierarchy, and color for both print and digital.
• Able to prepare accurate, production-ready files for print vendors and web.
• High-end visual creative experience; portfolio required
Shopify experience (required)
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on Shopify experience — demonstrated, not just familiarity.
• Comfortable working in themes and sections: building, editing, and arranging section content without developer support.
• Working knowledge of on-page SEO for product pages: alt text, metadata, image optimization, and page structure.
Reliability and ownership
• Meets deadlines while managing multiple concurrent projects.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and rigorous about proofing.
• Coachable, open to feedback, and eager to grow with a fast-scaling brand team.
Application requirement: paid design test
Candidates who advance will complete a short, paid design test: building a sample sales sheet from provided product information and completing a small Shopify task (e.g., configuring a section and writing alt text/metadata for a sample product). Portfolios alone are not a substitute for this step — we want to see how you work.
Education and experience
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2–5 years of professional design experience, including production design for sales or marketing.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on Shopify experience (sections, theme content, product page SEO) — portfolio or live-site examples required.
Physical demands
• Primarily required to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.
• Occasionally required to walk, reach, bend, or lift light weights (less than 25 pounds), including trade show materials.
• Finger dexterity required for keyboarding and design work.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color discrimination, and ability to adjust focus.
Work environment
• Professional office environment in Brooksville, Florida.
• Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment supporting a growing sales team; flexibility during trade show and launch periods is expected.
• Occasional interaction with the warehouse or manufacturing floor for product familiarization.
Compensation and benefits
• Competitive salaried compensation commensurate with experience; classified non-exempt and overtime-eligible.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
• 401(k) with company match.
• Generous paid time off and holidays.
• Discounts on BDC products.
• A growing, values-driven team that rewards excellence, grit, humility, and a competitive spirit.
