Media Sales Representative at Best Version Media in Sonoma, CA

If you love your community and want to get paid for building real relationships in it, this is the outside sales opportunity built for that — not a desk job, not a call center.

Best Version Media has spent nearly 20 years bringing communities together across the United States and Canada — one person, one home, one business at a time. Today, more than 1,300 local magazines and a full suite of digital marketing solutions help tens of thousands of local businesses grow. We’re looking for the next person to build one in the area.

What You’ll Earn

• Year 1 earning potential: $65,000+ (USD)
• Year 2 earning potential: $150,000+ (USD)
• Top performers: exceed $1,000,000 in annual sales volume — and earn accordingly. Plus incentives: trips, recognition, and a community of peers who want you to win.
• Model: 100% commission, independent-contractor business — uncapped, cumulative income for you and your family, with zero start-up costs, on a schedule you control. You launch as an Associate Publisher — BVM’s name for the people who sell for, and run, a community magazine — with bonus earnings while you build, and graduate to Publisher, earning 70% commission on collected sales above baseline (up to 80% with performance incentives) once your magazine reaches its revenue baseline.

Your Role

• Consult: Sit across the table from local business owners and help them solve the problem every one of them shares — being known by the households closest to them.
• Strategize: Design each client’s full answer — their place in the neighborhood’s magazine, plus digital ads and their online presence — one program that works together, not one ad at a time.
• Scale: Use our training and proven system to build a book of business that pays you for years, not just once.

And you won’t do any of it alone: structured training, daily live coaching, and a local leader in your corner from day one.

What You’ll Sell

Guaranteed access to the neighborhood: a magazine about their own community, mailed into the exact homes around a business — kept on coffee tables for a month, not scrolled past in seconds — with premium placements beside the content people actually read, plus digital ads and an online presence already working when readers look the business up. Local owners don’t need another ad; they need their neighbors’ attention. That’s what you’ll sell.

What You Bring

• Sales ability — or the drive to build it: a track record of prospecting, negotiating, and closing helps — outside sales, D2D, real estate, and insurance backgrounds all do well here. No sales background required, though: if you’ve spent your career serving the public — retail, hospitality, education, healthcare — you already have the core skill: taking care of people. What our top Publishers share is motivation and consistency. You bring the drive; our training builds the rest.
• Your own transportation, phone, laptop, and reliable internet: you’ll be meeting business owners in person, in your territory — our most successful Publishers make it a daily rhythm.
• Community focus: a genuine interest in building and nurturing local business relationships.
• Room to build: our most successful Publishers made this their primary professional focus during the build — the model rewards the ones who go all-in.

Why Best Version Media

• Proven model: 1,300+ magazines across North America, reaching millions of homes, and proudly serving 123,000+ local businesses over the last 20 years.
• Real support: structured training, daily live coaching, and a local leadership team from day one — you’re in business for yourself, never by yourself.
• Standing: ask our long-tenured Publishers what surprised them most — they’ve become some of the best-known people in their towns, the connector local businesses call first.
