Job Description

Atomic Transport is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Yard Jockey to support daily operations at two transfer station locations. This position is responsible for inspecting, moving, loading, tarping, and staging trailers to ensure safe and efficient operations. Because the role requires operating a tractor-trailer on public roads between the two transfer stations, a valid Class A CDL is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect trailers scheduled for loading to ensure they are safe, properly positioned, and ready for use.
• Pull trailers out of loading tunnels and safely position them at the tarp station.
• Tarp loaded trailers to ensure loads are properly covered and secured before transport.
• Safely climb up and down stairs as needed to tarp trailers and perform job duties.
• Move and stage trailers between designated areas at both transfer stations to support efficient operations.
• Operate a tractor-trailer on public roads when traveling between the two facilities, following all applicable traffic laws and DOT regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report equipment defects or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment
This position operates in an active transfer station environment and requires working around heavy equipment, tractor-trailers, loading tunnels, and tarp stations. The role involves frequent walking, climbing stairs, trailer maneuvering, and outdoor work.

Job Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Minimum of 2 years of recent, verifiable Class A CDL driving experience.
• Consistent employment history.
• Clean driving record and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to work shifts exceeding 10 hours.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer on public roads and maneuver trailers in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb up and down stairs to tarp loaded trailers.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Must meet applicable DOT qualification requirements.
