Job Description
Summary: Amentum is a leading engineering solutions provider for NASA, seeking a Robotics Intern to support payload integration and testing for mobile robotics at NASA Johnson Space Center. The role involves calibration and testing of sensor payloads, combining data from sensors, and developing interfaces for real-time insights.
Responsibilities:
- The intern would perform calibration and testing of various sensor payloads to be integrated on a mobile robotics platform, including stereo cameras, GPS, IMU, and environmental sensors
- Combine data from various sensor streams to derive scientific insights about terrain and surroundings
- Perform small-scale field tests in and around JSC
- Develop interfaces and/or visualizations to communicate real-time insights to operators
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university
- Completed at least 45 credit hours
- Minimum of 2.8 GPA
- BS/MS/PhD student in an engineering field
- Comfortable with assembly and testing of small electronic components
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements
- Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robotics, rovers, instrument sensors
- Experience with image analysis and/or photogrammetry
- Experience with CAD analysis
- Familiarity with data fusion techniques
