Organic Social Specialist at AlgaeCal · Vancouver

You turn scrollers into followers… and followers into customers. You know how to make people stop, watch, follow, click… and buy. Likes are nice. Views are nice. But sales are nicer. Because great organic social doesn’t just build an audience. It earns attention, builds trust, and turns that trust into measurable revenue.

If that sounds like you, you might have what it takes to become our next Organic Social Specialist.

Small Print ⇒ We’re not looking for a “like junkie.” We want someone who knows how to grow a social audience and turn that attention into sales. Someone who understands that followers, views, and engagement are only useful if they build trust, drive traffic, and ultimately help customers buy. If you measure success by views alone then this probably isn’t the role for you.

Still here?

Okay then…

This job will give you ALL the feels:

We create clinically supported, natural solutions for some of the biggest health challenges women over 40 face today. And your work will help more women discover those solutions. You’ll help us become a brand these women actually want to follow. You’ll help create the posts that make her stop. The videos she sends to a friend. The content that makes her think, “Finally. Someone actually gets it.”

If that excites you, you’ll find no better place to continue your career than here. This job might be for you if…

• You understand what makes people stop scrolling. Hooks. Thumbnails. First frames. Captions. Curiosity. Emotion. Pattern interrupts. Trends. You don’t need someone to explain why the first two seconds of a TikTok matter. You already spend more time than is probably healthy wondering why one piece of content gets 327 views while another gets 327,000.

• You know every platform speaks a slightly different language. TikTok isn’t Instagram. Instagram isn’t Facebook. YouTube isn’t Reddit. And taking the exact same post, resizing it four times, and calling it a “social strategy” makes a small part of you die inside. You know how to adapt an idea to the platform, audience, format, and reason somebody is there in the first place.

• You can actually create the stuff. We’re not looking for someone who just sits in meetings talking about content pillars. You’ll help develop ideas, write briefs, schedule content, coordinate assets, get everything live, and make sure the little details don’t fall through the cracks.

• You’ve got a nose for a good trend. Sounds. Formats. Memes. Conversations. Creators. Questions people suddenly can’t stop asking. You pay attention to what’s happening online and can tell the difference between a trend we should jump on… and one that will make a women’s health company look like someone’s dad discovered TikTok.

• You’re obsessed with the audience. What are women talking about? What are they frustrated by? What are they asking in the comments? What myths keep popping up? What are competitors saying? What language are real women actually using? You know some of the best content ideas won’t come from a brainstorm. They’ll come from listening.

• You care about results more than vanity metrics. Followers and likes are lovely. But you also want to know what people clicked, what sent traffic to the site, what converted, what content assisted a sale, and what we should do differently next month. Because ultimately, we’re not trying to win a trophy for “nicest Instagram grid.”

• Numbers don’t make your eyes glaze over. Reach. Engagement. Clicks. Conversion. Follower growth. Traffic. UTMs. GA4. You don’t have to be a data scientist wearing six monitors and muttering about statistical significance. But you should be able to look at performance, spot patterns, and turn what you learn into better content.

• You know how to use social scheduling tools without needing an emergency tutorial. Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, Buffer, or something similar. We don’t care which logo you’ve stared at most. We care that you understand how to plan, schedule, organize, and manage a social calendar without everything descending into chaos.

• You can turn performance into strategy. You don’t just send a monthly report containing 17 charts and the groundbreaking observation that “engagement was up.” You ask why. What worked? What flopped? Which topics got attention? Which formats drove clicks? What should we do more of? Less of? Test next? The report is only useful if it changes what we do.

• You’re organised enough to keep a lot of little moving pieces moving. Content calendars. Briefs. Designers. Video. Approvals. Links. UTMs. Scheduling. Launch dates. Reporting. Somebody has to keep track of it all. Preferably without sending 14 Slack messages asking, “Any update on this?”

• You play nicely with others. You’ll work with Content, Creative, Acquisition, Email, Influencer, Customer Service and other teams across the business. Sometimes you’ll need something from them. Sometimes they’ll need something from you. You communicate clearly, follow up, solve problems, and understand that being easy to work with is a genuine career superpower.

• You know social never stops changing. Algorithm updates. New features. New formats. Social commerce. Search behaviour. Yesterday’s “best practice” suddenly dying a very public death. You’re curious enough to keep learning without somebody having to chase you around the office waving an industry newsletter.

• You’ve got at least a year of experience in social media marketing or something closely related. Maybe you’ve managed brand accounts. Maybe you’ve built social for an ecommerce company. Maybe you’ve helped grow a community, supported creator campaigns, or owned organic content as part of a broader marketing role. What matters most is that you can show us you’ve done the work and learned from it.

• Women’s health genuinely interests you. You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about women’s health. But you do need to care enough to learn. We’re talking about real health concerns affecting millions of women, so curiosity, empathy, accuracy, and good judgment matter.

Bonus points if you’ve worked with Shopify, ecommerce brands, Google Sheets, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.

Double bonus points if you already have strong opinions about why most brand TikToks are painfully boring.

Now, time to be honest… is this really you?

If you’ve already started thinking about what you’d post first, which competitors you’d stalk, and how you’d build our first 10,000 followers…

We should probably talk.

We don’t expect you to know everything. This isn’t a “12 years of TikTok experience required” job ad. But we do want somebody curious, switched on, commercially minded, organised, and hungry to get very, very good at organic social.

And someone who sees a brand starting from scratch and thinks:

Ohhh… this could be fun.

Other Qualities You’ll Need

We’re going to insist that you have these 3 qualities:

• You’re humble — you put the team and others’ needs ahead of your own.
• You’re hungry — you want to learn more, improve, and keep getting better.
• You’re people-smart — in the sense that you’re a great teammate.

The truth is, if you don’t have these qualities, you won’t last long at our company.

So if you’re missing one of them, be honest. Save yourself a lot of headaches and skip to a job posting that’s a better fit for you.

What Will You Earn?

We believe in rewarding top talent.

So let’s talk about salary once we’ve had the chance to get to know you better. Rest assured, we’re generous and offer above-market pay for the right person. If you bring the skills, curiosity, and hunger to grow, we’ll make sure the compensation reflects that.

You’ll also enjoy the following benefits:

• A generous healthcare package
• Monthly team events and activities
• Flexible Stat Holidays with the option to bank days for later use
• Weekly team lunches
• Casual dress code
• An incredible dog-friendly office

And above all, you’ll join a team that you’ll never want to leave.

Culture is everything to us.

Yes, we work extremely hard to change as many people’s lives as possible.

But we know how to have fun and reward ourselves too.
