Reporting directly to our Head of Quality, we are looking for an experienced and quality focused Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory team.
This is a key role within the business. The testing you carry out isn't simply about producing a result on a piece of paper, it helps us understand how our products perform, ensures they are fit for their intended use, meets the requirements of our customers and protects the quality and reputation of A W Hainsworth.
About the role
As Laboratory Technician, you will carry out a range of textile testing and material characterisation, ensuring that testing is completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with the appropriate test methods and standards.
You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out textile testing in accordance with relevant BS, EN and ISO standards and required UKAS standards.
- Completing testing accurately and within agreed timescales, ensuring results are reported promptly.
- Ensuring test methods and procedures are appropriate, accurate and kept up to date.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of product specifications, ensuring they reflect technical requirements, market expectations and the intended end use of our products.
- Organising internal and external testing where required and maintaining full traceability of test results and reports.
- Liaising with external test laboratories and test centres, including arranging testing and raising purchase orders.
- Providing accurate test reports and results to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Supporting quality investigations and technical projects where testing expertise is required.

Experience and skills
- Practical experience of testing textiles or textile-related materials is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and recording results.
- The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively and work to deadlines.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- A genuine quality and customer focused approach.
- Understanding or previous experience of UKAS requirements within a laboratory environment, is a desirable
