NPI Project Manager at 1X in San Carlos, CA

NPI PROJECT MANAGER Location: San Carlos, CA ABOUT 1X We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not. To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us. NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you. If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all. ABOUT THE TEAM The Supply Chain team at 1X is responsible for building and scaling the global supplier network and operational infrastructure that powers our humanoid robots. We work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to bring highly complex electromechanical systems from concept to mass production. As part of the Supply Chain organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring new products transition smoothly from development into manufacturing. Your work directly impacts build readiness, material availability, inventory health, and our ability to scale NEO from prototype to production. YOUR CHARTER As the NPI Project Manager, Supply Chain, you will own material readiness and planning execution for new product introductions across multiple commodity areas including motors, PCBs, structural components, batteries, and electromechanical assemblies. You will serve as the connective tissue between Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Program Management to ensure materials, systems, and processes are aligned to support successful builds and production ramps. KEY OUTCOMES • Ensure material readiness for all prototype, validation, and production builds through proactive planning and cross-functional coordination. • Maintain inventory health by balancing material availability, excess inventory risk, and changing program requirements. • Translate production schedules and engineering demand into actionable procurement and planning requirements. • Drive successful NPI launches by establishing clear-to-build processes, BOM readiness, and supply chain risk mitigation plans. • Improve planning system accuracy, reporting visibility, and operational execution through continuous process improvement initiatives. KEY COMPETENCIES • Strong understanding of material planning, inventory management, and production control within complex manufacturing environments. • Ability to manage multiple NPI programs simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and timelines. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret supply, demand, inventory, and production data to drive decisions. • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management capabilities. • High attention to detail with a structured approach to execution, risk management, and operational problem solving. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field. • 2-4 years of experience in material planning, production planning, supply chain operations, or NPI program management. • Hands-on experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or equivalent enterprise planning systems. • Experience supporting hardware manufacturing, electronics, robotics, automotive, or other complex manufacturing environments. • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities with experience managing data-driven planning decisions. PREFERRED SKILLS • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) programs from prototype through production launch. • Familiarity with PLM, MES, and engineering change management processes. • Experience working with electronics, PCBAs, battery systems, or electromechanical assemblies. • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification. • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent analytics platforms.
